Sport steering
Is there any way to have the steering on sport mode all the time?
Also, curious as to what goes on mechanically when steering is set to sport mode... |

Well yes and no .
You can configure eco pro to be set up with the sport steering , this will be your eco pro individual profile Similarly you can configure sport individual to be sport steering aswell ( sport and sport plus as you know will be configured like this anyway) You cannot however configure comfort mode to have sport steering. Adaptive will adjust on the fly so if you throw it around the steering should weight up but in normal driving it will remain in the equivalent of comfort steering. Unless there is an unofficial route via coding )not seen anything to date my self) then the only way to get round this is to change mode upon starting the car. This what I do , I have sport individual set up the way I like it so with one push the car is as I want it. Additionally ass if off in this mode aswell. |

Sport plus does not turn off traction control. It does change the maps in the engine and programs the transmission to a more aggresive setting. Expect mileage to go down and RPMs to stay higher......in a ready to scream state, if you will. You'll also get earlier downshifts for cornering, which is very cool!

Referring to the original question, mechanically I assume with the sport setting the electric moto is just providing less torque.
From the various bits of info I've read bmw have dialled out unwanted feedback which suggest software is controlling the steering possibly to some extent? Which might explain why it can feel a bit numb. Would need an engineer on here to explain what's going on. Now give me the e39 steering........ |
