Sometimes too harsh a ride

Im enjoying my M2C. Often using it as my daily driver. I enjoy the tight handling and cornering. However, sometimes I'm feeling the ride is too harsh. Usually on crappy city roads. I'm wondering if there are suspensions changes that anyone can recommend that will improve the ride.

Maybe I'm just getting old...

Thanks

This KW adaptive setup and some lighter wheels (763M) might help..

Beware, currently this adaptive dampers cost upwards of $4,000 and has to be imported from Germany..

Also, try slightly taking down your tire PSI a few pounds; you'll be surprise the difference something as simple as air pressure does for the overall comfort.

Funny enough, C&D said the exact same thing about the OG M2 in their long-term wrap up.

I've heard the Dinan springs soften things up a bit

The easiest thing you can do without altering suspension is to go down to say the 640M 18" wheels to get extra sidewall. Of course depending on your tastes you are downgrading in looks. I am actually running the 640M wheels with Michelin PA4 winter tires and the ride is better and personally I don't think the wheels look that bad as they have the concave look of the 19" stock wheels.

OP is in USA, we don't have the option run 18" wheels.
Ours come standard with the bigger brakes. Gotta run 19"

My idea,
Butt cushion.

Heard good things about Ohlins, but they are pricey.

On my previous E82 1M I had JRZ-RS1 coil overs, very good compliant ride, no roll or diving while braking hard.

But I had them serviced 5 times in a row, under warranty solved by JRZ, so no complaint on their outstanding customer service.

But I do not have confidence anymore to try this again.

Really an oversight to not have adaptive dampers on the M2C as it seems all performance cars these days come with them.

Can't disagree it'd be nice to have, but the M2 was originally built to a price point - started at $51,700! - hence the regular seats, side mirrors, N55, and non-adaptive suspension.

We have really bad roads around here but the M2 is just my weekend car and even still I'm going with Dinan HAS next spring. From all reviews I've read it makes the ride smoother while also improving handling.

I'll probably install Camber plates at the same time and replace the PSS with grippier tires but I plan to track at least 2x per month for the summer.

I must have owned too many firm riding cars in the past as this one feels like a hovercraft in comparison

Ok. What impressions do people have in terms of ride quality with different coil overs?
Thanks

Coilovers are going to make the ride stiffer, no question. Unlikely you will find it more comfortable.
Funny, I have speculated that the Dinan suspension made the OG car more "comfortable" because the springs are stiffer. I also speculate that the m2c springs are stiffer, that's why I find the competition to be MORE comfortable than the OG car. While this may seem odd to some, i believe it is due to a better balance with very stiff dampers. The new stiffer springs are just a better combination, resulting in a better ride.

I hadn't driven my GT4 for awhile so went for a ride through some canyons
https://jalopnik.com/americas-greate...ret-1736302708
I was surprised that even though it was firmer it was a lot less bouncy than my M2C.
I think the problem with the M2C suspension is the shocks are under dampened on rebound. It always seems to have an extra up and down on transitions . it could be a lot better on body control? carl

Aren't the springs the same in both versions?

I swear you have a different model of M2C to me. The damping is damn near perfect on mine. They’ve got the overall package so right out of the box. For me anyway.

It's my second one and my personal opinion is the shock tuning is off . I'm not saying I'm an expert but I have a lot of experience and all of the equipment including slip plates, scales, camber and toe gauges . For setting up suspensions including corner balancing and track alignments.on Lotus's and porsche's that I've tracked and owned . Get the car on the track with switchbacks and off camber corners with a dip and you'll see the lack of body control. Just my opinion .carl

Have heard good things about the Ohlins R&T. May be a good option for a street car.

I've driven olins on a 996 GT 3 their excellent. Also very pricey .My M2c it's just a DD I tracked my og one time and it just didnt feel buttoned up kind of louse . I feel it would take a good amount of work and money to make it into a good track car and you're still fighting the weight and high center of gravity.
Again is just my opinion not wrong or right. Carl
