M40i dealer offer in transit X3

I visited my local BMW dealer today and also had an extended 3 hour test drive without salesman but with family of the X3 3.0d Msport with lots of options. Very impressive in that spec but not what I wanted.

The conversation moved to a car already built and in transit from the factory in one of the colours I wanted.

After some negotiations I have done a great deal on a December delivery X3 ! No doubt assisting the dealers end of year numbers too.

X3 M40i
Sophisto Grey Xirallic

Additional Options fitted:

Comfort Pack
-Comfort access
-Acoustic glazing
-Exterior mirrors folding with anti dazzle
-Rear seat backrest adjustment
-Extended storage

M Sport Plus Package
-21” wheels
-Adaptive Msport suspension
-Sun protection glass
-Harmon Kardon sound system

Seat heating front & rear

Panoramic glass sunroof

Some options are purely a bonus and the roof an interesting added bonus, the 3.0d we drove today had this roof and my son loved it. Are there any issues to be considered with this roof ?

This forum has been a great help and I was expecting to place an order for a March car but the offer is tooooo good to ignore

Thoughts on this spec?

Sounds like a great spec (I may be biased!).

I like the safety feature set which I don't see above.

Also if I was getting 2019 I would without a doubt want the M sport differential which was not on the 2018.

Standard on UK cars for several months

The car offered was built October 2018 and in transit

The two packs seem to have the 'must haves' covered. Anything else is a bonus, unless there something specific that appeals to you.

Agreed just worried panoramic roof is a safety/future leak concern

Must make car slightly heavier and top heavier too?

It all comes down to personal preference, but I test drove an X3 30d and 530d back to back (both passive M Sport suspension). The X3 had the pano roof and handled better than the 530d. I ordered with a pano roof as I liked the brighter interior, even if it comes at the expense of some performance.

I am not allowed to share on Facebook or Forums but I was going to go for a great TRL deal, this deal was significantly better due to being in right place and the right time and on a suitable spec inbound X3 M40i’s, plus no doubt year end sale figures being chased.

I have 26/10/2018 9000 Departed Port

I am not sure how you track boats from there to the UK

Do you know what your build date was? Mine was 15/10 so trying to calculate what ship it might be on. Curious to know how long it takes to go from Departed plant to Departed Port.

Last build code i got was 9000 as well (checked 2/11). There isn't a way to know which boat the car will be on but from reading through forum posts BMW use WWL. You can see ship schedules on their site: https://www.2wglobal.com. The ships supposedly go from Charleston SC to Bremerhaven then from Bremerhaven to Southampton. However i found the shipping company does charters routes directly from Charleston SC to Southampton (wouldnt this be more cost effective), assuming the former is true I have found ships leaving for Bremerhaven on the 6th (arriving 19th) and 13th (arriving 24th), anything later then that and I doubt it would make it to the UK for a week 50 delivery. Feel free to drive yourself crazy and figure out which ship it might be on!

I had the panoramic roof on my E70 w/o any issues.

I would have thought it would make the car feel open and airy. That said I never used it. Children didn't like it when the screen was retracted, glare on their game system or too bright. I didn't like it when the glass was fully open b/c the wind buffeting sounded like a helicopter at any speed.

I can’t see it being used much and was an added bonus option of a pre built car.

I would not be without my pano roof. Makes the interior so much brighter, and back-seat passengers love it. 7 months in and no issues with it.
