B.S While The M division may for sure go FI in the future, their engines are never based on a non M mass production engine.. If anything they would develop their own Twin Turbo V-8

oh man that would be really interesting. If they produced a 500hp+ FI engine, the tuners would have an absolute field day and so would the consumers.

At the same time....maybe they will trickle down the V10 into the 3 series....

is anyone tuning the S6?

saw that too.....woudl be really cool if it came from BMW that way. I forget the tuner your referring to, but I remember they were charging over 100k for that 3 series......

It seems consistant that as the platforms evolve, the pedestrian 3 series adopts the previous high-end performance. It makes sense that an E9x replacement would adopt something simular to the current M3 engine and the new M3 would adopt output more in alignment with the current M5/M6 V10 and they in turn would go higher-end.

I think BMW realized they made a mistake with the current modded 335/ E9x M3 situation (they can keep playing games with the ECU, but it's a waste of time and resources) and hopefully they now get that if you use a boosted motor people will F-with it- the power gains and tuner incentives are simply too large. Mercedes, Ford and others already figured out that boosted packages belong in the high-end; why not build the motor the a F-with-it-factor from the factory, you're already charging significantly more for the AMG/M/Shelby/SVT/SRT status so you can hide the extra cost in the price of the car. The smart ones should do that, then sell you the tuning on the back end al la Dinan..

I'd be driving a new M3 right now if it had a TT V8 at the exact same power the NA motor has. Once you drive a boosted car, particulary a modded one, you're judgement is skewed for the rest of your life

I won't be surprised to see m division go FI but, I think they will go supercharged over turbo just to keep that instant throttle response and linear power output they are known for.
