What happened to the Sensatec dashboard option (RHD centric)?

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all well. I had finally made up on my mind on the various options I wanted for my new 30d. I was very keen to add the Sensatec dashboard which I really like but although the sales rep was able to configure it, when the time came to complete the order we got an error code and the build couldn't be finalised. After a bit of investigating it turns out that the sensatec dash is no longer an option on anything other than the M40d (not even the m40i from December apparently). I suspect this is something of a UK/RHD problem. I wonder if anyone who has ordered or is thinking of ordering a car recently has encountered this problem? I find it very peculiar. The BMW genius on the UK live chat is adamant that the option is still available but did admit that the individual dealerships have more up to date info. I would be very interested to hear from anyone who might have any further insights or even workarounds.

I thought it was strange that they dropped the sensatec dash option on the MY2019 non M40’s, but I can’t believe they would renove it from the M40i!

Hope it’s not more cost saving

I was a bit in the same situation when I ordered my 30d back in september. Dealer told me there are problems with sensatec supplier and will not be solved before Q1-19. I was lucky the he found a production slot for M Sport + sensatec. As first he was pushing me towards the M40d with the sensatec but price difference remained to much for me.

So I guess you have to deal with it, or try to push the dealer for extra discount on the M40d as I also think the Sensatec is a must have for such a nice car. It just lifts the overall interior appearance to something more 'premium'.

Thanks for that, I am glad that you were able to get a car. He did offer me a 40d for a great price. We did also test drove one but as great as the 40d was it was loosing out on the chilled-out nature of the 30d slightly. It felt as if even in comfort mode it was alway rearing to go. I was also quite surprised at the amounts of vibrations it was emitting when idle. For the right customer I am sure it's awesome though and a whole lot of fun.

Just checked and sensatec is still standard on the M40i in the configurator in Sweden.

Or so it seems, yes. Although obviously I would check with your dealer just in case I was being ill advised. I did however see their literature which definitely did say that it wouldn't be standard anymore on the M40i. It makes no sense whatsoever.

On the UK literature I saw, it seems to be from December builds onwards. I have a feeling this is a UK or Right hand drive issue.

Yes but configurator is not right with this kind of production limitations, was the same for me at ordering. They just leave it in the configurator and will tell customer when he wants to place the order that it isn't available.

I was informed by the official dealer in my country that the supplier couldn't catch up with demand. Ours cars come from Spartanburg.

That would make sense, they can keep up with the demand for the M40d as they’re such lower volume than the M40i.

That's a odd one, UK December 2018 price list is still showing Sensatec dash as standard on M40i and M40d under model highlights

Noticed that individual paint, leather and trim finishes have been removed from all models apart from M40i and d though, that could have something to do with production as only Spartanburg builds can have those

You can also no longer select black Vernasca with blue stitching on the configurator on any model apart from M40i (M40d still not there) as it requires sensatec dash to be selected

Small update from the dealer who has been in touch with the factory in the US. The sensatec will become available from April 2019 builds onwards. Interestingly it also seems that the Parking Assistant Plus is also unavailable until January 19 builds. Again I don't think this is a worldwide issue, just a UK/RHD one. Frustrating but at least the info is being forthcoming.

Sounds like I was lucky to get my order in when I did then, as I have ordered park assist plus!

So then they build your M40d:s in Rosslyn, and there they still have a few boxes for the M models, RHD?!
