Should handle better. The M5 will be fine in a 1/4 race with it.

I was able to get a very limited test drive in this car at pebble beach in August. Yes it seemed fast but not more so than the E63s. I really liked the interior however there is no outward visibility at all. Blind spots all over the car, they might as well left out the rear windshield it's so bad. The exterior looks nice however on closer inspection so of the details were horrible like plastic vent covers that wouldn't be allowed on a Chevy Cruze. Very very cheap looking. I asked the MB rep if it was a pre production detail and he seriously said no that's how it will be. I really was excited about this car to replace the M5 next year but would not spend $185k for this.

Even took some pics of the vent and blind spots

Thats the Mercedes way since the new C class. Very flashy interiors but all of the actual detail is cheap and nasty.

Is this car's main competitor the M8 GC/M8 Competition?

Here's a video showdown against the E63S.

If the above video review is accurate...which I must say I highly doubt - that is a flop from a straight line perspective.

I have to say that is one of the ugliest cars ive seen in a while, and i bet it will handle like the Oriana. Please dont compare this to the M5.

It is a pretty epic package. Got to see it in person in the São Paulo Auto Show. It is practically 2 cuts above the E63 S. It is still too big, bloated and heavy though. Not the type of car I would own. I think the M5 is a better package when you consider the massive size this thing has. It also has much better finish quality inside compared to the E63, (the buttons aren't cheap plastics, and the dinamica headliner is sensational. The seats and panels also have softer leather).

I did not get to see it in as much detail as Quickburn7 so I may have passed out on the cheap vents and horrible visibility. But the shape would suggest so. I also found the trunk pretty small for a hatchbacky type of car. The M5's trunk is at least 100 to 150l bigger.

Nevertheless if I want a heavy, bloated giant, I would go for the Panny Turbo S with all options, considering these cars are the same price here. Not worth the money.

Let me guess?!
If I read this forum correctly
1. Turbo S and the likes
2. McLaren 570S
3. Audi R8 V10 Plus
4. Not Tesla P100D

What did I miss ?!

As a long time (now recovering) MB owner. I was offered one of the first builds for the GT 63s from my local dealer, and I was also invited to drive the 53s they had on display. It is not an M5 competitor, in fact, it says a lot about the M5 to be compared to a car that is 60k to 80k (an M3) more expensive.

I agree with the previous posters the quality of the materials in the interior is inferior, visibility is poor at best, it felt much smaller on the inside than the M5, I like the way it looks better than the M5 much more aggressive and I liked the sports car feel when I drove it, much more feel of the road than the M5, it feels like my AMG GTC edition 50 coupe on the road.

When I priced one out with most of the options the MSRP was just north of 215k...

Well I think so far all the initial reviews from European magazines have been positive. It moved very well for its weight.

I guess people who buy this car just really liked this car (like Pam Turbo S), since it offers no significant performance advantage over the M5, especially in the straight line (if at all) for much more money. But yes, it's aggressive look will check some people's boxes.

Please do not compare this strange ugly electric boosted car with the M5.

WTF GT. It's only the CLS.

Hmm a little excited over one publication. The amg demolished the competition
Package in sports auto and so far has a much quicker ring time. A little premature to jump for joy ya think.

Is there a Sport Auto same day same driver comparison? I can't seem to find it.

EDIT: I also can't seem to find the M5 Comp Nurburgring time - only the standard F90 M5's.
