Thought it would add a nice touch under my hood. Much thanks to Sam from Auto Talent for hooking me up with this sweet intake.

The E92's have a support brace that connects the body to the frame on the bottom were you remove the rubber plug on the frame. You have to cut the bottom of the CF Shield to clear that brace but very little, can't even see were you cut because it's hidden under the air filter and the top of the shield also hides the air filter and the bottom. Once that's done it fit's like a glove and it flows with the lines of the engine bay.

No I don't have any pic's but once you remove the stock intake box you will see what I'm talking about. All you do is put the Gruppe-M intake box in the area were you removed the stock box and look down inside were the K&N air filter goes you will see were you need to notch the CF box to make it flush with the engine compartment.

I recently purchased a replica that originally was claimed new but it turns it that it was used. It had just the heat sheild and the K&N. It fit nicely without any issues with the air scoop but I was concerned about the possible heat coming from open area of the heat sheild so I taped it. Made sure it functioned like the stock air box collecting only what the air ducts suck in. Paid 190 for it too. This is what it looks like....

I like how it sounds stock when driving "peacefully" but when I step on it to 3RPMs or more it growls. When on the freeway I could barely hear it when going 85mph @ 3RPMs. But when I am not anxious to go anywhere like at 70mph it sounds like there was no aftermarket mods. Love it, best aftermarket for the money. Just a bitch when I need to clean up the filter and I have to take off all that heavy duty tape to get to it but it is woth that extra effort to reduce engine heat exposure.

I know that I am missing that modified scoop where it opens facing foward unlike the stock that isdownwards so a friend of mines is working on making a mold that I could ad to the stock to make it face foward.

simp0man, if you read further up on my thread, I've wrote about how I got rid of that gap by cutting a little off of the bottom of the CF air filter box.

Are you talking about the heat shield? If so, it doesn't bother me if it is raised up just a bit. The shield is quite flexible so I was able to close the hood, thank goodness. What bothers me is that I dont have that scoop that came with the kit. The "CF" is now a closed heat sheild which I turned it into a box. There was a reason why they made a box not a heat shield as the OEM. Thank you for your concern. My mod is not as clean as yours but we both have some good sounding E92's though, he he he.
