I spoke to BMW sales person (and saw PDF bulletin in sales person's computer), BMW warned dealership not to install Dinan software since they're debating to eliminate all warranty (I know Dinan is going to pick up but not sure dealership will still do service or not). So I'm debating Dinan stg II or not...

Here's the thing about all those BMW PDF bulletins...

These bulletins that have been coming out have NOT been signed by BMWNA, but rather the president of BMW AFTERSALES - Allan Harris. Think someone is trying to push the BMW Performance Line a little bit?

I'll let you guys do the math.

Interesting tidbit from the Chicago area. I was at my local dealer on Saturday. They are under some major construction. I was talking with one of the service managers. They are going to become more performance oriented, including BMW performance parts as well as becoming a Dinan dealer.

I find the last part rather interesting given all the talk on this forum about Dinan and BMW issues. Why would one of the largest dealers in the midwest start with Dinan now if there was such turmoil?

Oh yea, I remember that. It was signed by BMW Aftersales.
So.. If I do stage II, I'm in good hands right?

If BMW aftersales put it out, it is with the complete and total OK from the gods on high.

Double35, see if you can talk to the owners of your dealership -- what an interesting situation it would be if BMW Perf and Dinan are put in direct competition with each other at dealers. That would bode well for what we are likely to get from BMW Perf.

Incidentally, I spoke with Dinan today and they said they still have no idea when the software will be ready for the 08s. The best estimate was "on the order of weeks or months, not years." I was hoping it would be sooner than that. They did say that the numbers will be similar to the previous versions.
