Couple iDrive and remote start questions

1. Has anyone confirmed that you can start the car with the connect app?

2. Can you search for business phone numbers and info? Like restaurants or something. I did a search at the dealer and it showed the location to route to and also showed a yelp icon with stars under it but it would not show the phone number or the info on the location. Anyone know if that can be displayed?

3. Can you get internet search results on iDrive using voice commands like what movies are playing or something?

You can use the remote to start the car immediately or you can use the app and set a departure time. The vehicle will run for 15 min and then shut down.

How do you remote start the vehicle? I don't have a starting option in the connected app.

You can remote start using the key by pressing the logo 3 times. The app is strange because it doesn't say remote start. However, the function is under climatize timer. You can set a departure time (at least 5 minutes away) and it will start the vehicle at that time. Also, you need to enable remote start in the vehicle setting through iDrive before it will actually remote start. Without the setting enabled the car will just turn the hvac on without starting the car.

Can you post where you turn on this setting in iDrive? I can't seem to find anything pertaining to remote start which makes me wonder if this feature has been disabled on Canadian G05 X5's...

That would make a ton of sense for all us poor souls up in the great white north

To answer your question about getting questions answered on Idrive, I havent pushed idrive with questions beyond car functions but if you press the microphone button for 3 seconds, the car will pass audio to your phone so you can ask Google (I have Android) any question and the phone will reply though the audio system.

I use this to have Google read my text messages to me. However I have found that if I try to respond to texts, the response audio is cut off after only a few seconds. Wonder if anyone else has seen this issue.
