Nice idea, but surely with those scissor doors on the i8 by the time the copper has managed to get out of the car the crims will have bailed and will be long gone!

As long as you can outrun them for the first 20 miles until the batteries are flat the rozzers will only be running a 1.5L 3-pot...

Bonkers - I guess the Met Police won't be using these to knock scrote thieves off their mopeds!?

Sadly not. In fact this car won't be pursuing any criminals at all. This car, as with previous AC Schnitzer police cars, is part of the "Tune it! Safe!" campaign in Germany which has been running for a number of years and is a collaboration between the Polizei and tuning companies that sell homologated (legal) tuning parts. The aim is to raise awareness of untested, non-homologated (and therefore illegal in Germany) parts such as "replica" wheels and to promote safe, tested tuning products.

I struggle getting in and out of an i8 as it is, let alone with a stab vest, utility belt, taser etc etc. Anyone running off would be long gone by the time I could lever myself out. And god help some of my larger colleagues
