I realised that BMW provide options for xLine buyers where one can choose rims that comes with Run-flat ("RF") tires or Non Run-flat Tires ("NRF").

1SA - 734 Rims with NRF tires
1SB - 734 Rims with RF tires
1SC - 735 Rims with NRF tires
1SD - 735 Rims with RF tires (default option)

I read with interest from some online articles that BMW tune the suspension/setup to take into consideration the stiffer RF tires and compensate the extra weight of such tires, and what not.

I can't help wondering if a buyer chooses the NRF tires because of the smoother and quieter ride that supposedly comes with it, will BMW also tune the suspension/setup at the factory to factor in the NRF tires? Else why would they offer such options when BMW is a huge supporter of RF tires?

Anyone/SA has any insights/views/feedback/experience to share on this? Is it true that most owners will switch to NRF tires after the factory defaulted RF tires ran out of steam?

Current G05 owners to share their experience on the ride so far?

I just switched out from the 22" NRF to 20" winter michelin pilot alpin NRF. You would think that going to a winter tire with a thicker wide wall would make the ride softer and i can barefuly tell a difference.

I've also test driven the 21" RF vs the 22" NRF and again not a difference that I can feel.

There is normally a huge difference when you switch out RF to NRF, heck I did it on my F25 but on the X5, I can't really tell a difference. If given a choice like you have, I would go with NRF.

And no, i highly doubt BMW tunes the suspension to the tire you have ordered.

I ran non-RFT tires on my X3 M40i, still stiffer than someone on the blue pill, dynamics did not change

The early runflats, 10+ years ago, were very rough riding. Each generation has improved to the point where there is little difference in ride quality with the current runflats. At least this is my experience in both BMWs and Corvettes.
