The 40i has better MPG than my 1995 M3 that weighed 2000 lbs less! And it's about the same as my 4 cyl 1992 Accord that weighed under 3000 lbs.

I don't think anyone buying an X7 is genuinely concerned with gas mileage.

Merely slightly heavier than most of today's M cars.

If a racer purchases one as a tow vehicle, I bet those numbers get crunched.

Somehow I doubt a person purchasing an X7 as a tow vehicle is worried about fuel economy.

That would make one hell of a tow vehicle.

Not bad for a gasoline engine. I wonder if they are adding a diesel to the lineup. 🤔

I am wondering about the same thing... X3 M40i weighs 4317 lbs and have almost the same mpg (20 city, 27 highway) as X5 or X7 40i?

I bought a Trackhawk this fall, I manage a great 12mpg. Poor MPG gets old...Nice to see the optimistic numbers on the X7.

Edit: Wife's 340Xi, mostly freeway, 23mpg. My old X5 50i, 19mpg, mixture of stop and go and freeway.
I think an X7 would be 17 to 20mpg.

I'm hearing BMW is done with diesels for future vehicles <edit: for the US market>. I'm sad if that is true, as I have truly enjoyed my '15 X5 35d greatly. Torn on whether to keep her, get a new X5, or perhaps get an Audi (sacrilege!) e-tron.

No diesel, no love for those of us who tow.

the B58M30, gets comparable mileage in an X5/X7 as the prior diesel did!

i loved my 15 35D with racechip. it was fast and got over 700 miles on a tank of fuel. Really fun engine with the chip.
