New software and what it fixes
Currently running 11/2018.23 and the dealer says an update is available. Left at the dealer and I'll report the version I get it back with. Haven't had any problems since delivery, but I figure I'll do the update for prevention.

No, it's never quick with the software updates. Left ours today and will pick up Monday sometime. They told me at least a day to reprogram.

Not to bury the lead... this is pretty exciting news that BMW is advancing the software within a month of general availability of the X5.
Distribution methodology aside, it's good news. [Edit Feb 12th, 2019] Or not good news at all really. Seems BMW are just doing small incremental updates in-line, during assembly... But not making the updates available over the air. Worse - the point "updates" don't really seem to solve much... Two months later and the list of bugs is long and growing - with no updates to date for owners.... Last edited by lumpydog; 02-12-2019 at 08:06 PM.. |

I take delivery of a 5.0i on Tuesday but it got to the dealer on Thursday. I take it I must ask tomorrow that they update the software since this came out after mine was finished over one week ago?

Called my SA. Earliest he could get me in with a loaner is 12/18 to do a software update. He said there wasn't one specifically called out for my VIN but he just asked for some issues and said when the guys plug in they'll do any updates needed. So, we'll see. CarPlay is buggy as hell and occasionally the BC button stops working until the car is turned off and on again. Just to name a few.

Well the problem with the new update is it fails at the end of programming. Not sure if this is a dealership issue or a software issue? They've been trying since Saturday and as of this evening they've got corporate involved to figure out why the update is failing.

Latest version appears to be what was shipped with the recent X5s from Spartanburg: 11/2018.43
What was "fixed" will require a CA or other BMW employee to chime in with the release notes. OR people here, on this forum, to cooperate and compare notes on past issues that appear to be now addressed... |

Just got the car back and here's is what I can tell so far.
1. Apple Pay issue fixed 2. Weather widget gone 3. Small pop ups in white at the bottom of idrive screen at startup tell you CarPlay is connected, Bluetooth is connected and Wifi connected 4. It appears they've removed OTA software updates because I can no longer find it. 5 Can no longer find current version of software. 6. All the BMW apps on the app screen are gone except for BMW assist If someone can post where the OTA software update and current software version are located in idrive I'll double check when my wife gets home.
