Dual Intake Experience

Hey everyone. I was reading up on some previous threads on dual intakes and I decided to experiment myself. I set mine up with AFE intakes and I've been driving it around for about a week now. Aside from being able to hear my turbos spooling louder, I can't say that I really feel a difference. In fact, it feels like my car slowed down. I couldn't find a general consensus so I'd like to find out what everyone else has experienced.

More importantly, I'm about to install a SSTT and I wanted to know if any of you SSTT users are using duals.

w/o a tune, no performance advantage from dual intakes. Install the SSTT.

Got the SSTT yesterday....wow......initially you may feel it being slow...but once it adapts....wow! You gotta drive the car for a bit before it fully adapts....but I can definitely hear the intakes better with the SSTT.

Also,the Dual cone intakes prior to the SSTT did sound nice they did seem like they hindered the performance just a tad bit...but with a mild tune like SSTT - it's actually helpful. Same with the DCI, your car needs to adapt to the new airflow from the intakes...

I just did dual intakes as well..car definitely isn't slower, even in florida weather. But, I can barely hear them sucking in air. Maybe its because my exhaust is loud, but I don't understand what al the hype was about the sound

Take the cowl off of your engine bay and you'll see...

The target HP number before you see any real gains on a dual intake is supposed to be right around 350....according to the experts. I don't think a SSTT by itself will get you there. I know my v2 doesn't....I come in at about 330hp.

+1 The stock airbox is good enough for SSTT. I experienced the same loss of low end torque and took out the dual intakes after a week. I realized that my car is fine w/o them and i don't intend to race or go over 350HP.

you cant hear the turbos yet cause I think your car is adapting like mine is. I readjusted the clamps and now turbos arnt kicking in .. It takes like 150-250 miles before full adaption. My theory

With a mild tune, all the dual-intakes do is relieve some stress from the turbos. Below 350 whp, it is more of a preventative modification than a performance modification. Now if you get a JB2X, JB3 or V3, then there is a performance advantage.

I took my intake out because my car felt slower with it. Even after 2 weeks of driving with it. Big waste of time and money IMHO. I had the bms intake btw.

Do you have a stronger tune?

That's why I built my own DIs...$70!

I'm sure he did it for the same reason I did, my couplers weren't fully seated into the intakes hoses...and I got a chance yesterday to reseat them so now they are fully in.

yup, they're good man, just can't wait to break that "barrier"

you really have to hold the throttle at a certain point to hear the intake and let it keep sucking...just watch the speedo...looking at the tach and not looking at the speedo will get you a ticket

im in this backwards...i have had my sstt for about 3 months now and i will be installing my DIY dual intakes i spent a total of $40 including all material..

i will be installing the intakess today after work. i will take some pictures and post results after the instal.

Well I feel more power actually - definetly not slower. The more frequent appearance of the loss of traction warning light tells me so.

I just installed mine and I don't noticed a power loss. But then again you can't really tell unless you take it to the dyno. If anything, I think it should help the turbos feed more air in easier. I don't think it'll hurt the performance of a stock car. I can be wrong though.
