Build date on side door jam actual build date or when tag was issued?

Is the build date stamped on the door jam the actual build date or just when tag was issued?

Actual build date when it leaves factory. Always has been. It's a factory plate, not something the dealer installs. Has to be, by law

I had a new E90 3-Series years ago. It was built on November 29th, but the door jam VIN sticker stated it was built in December. This leads me to beilieve it is when the sticker is printed and applied to the vehicle days after assembly and QC.

My G01 has a build date of Feb 27, 2018 as per the vin decoder but the door sticker says March 2018
