oil temp sensor

I have a 2007 335i with full bolt ons and pure stage 2 turbos. About once in every 20ish times i use the car the oil temp does not work. The oil temp will read 50-150f and no matter ow much you drive it it will do back down to 50f. This means my jb4 tune does not work because the tune does not turn on till the oil temp is 160 degrees.

I assume the oil temp sensor is messed up. Where is it and how much does it cost? and what is the part number?

What for? Menu 7 is to make the oil temp gauge read what ever you want when the throttle pedal is at over 50%.

I have the jb4 Bluetooth connect kit. The once in 20-30 times that the oil temp does not work I can actually see the oil temp on my iPhone and the oil temp is showing less than 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Check the oil level next time the oil temp is off as both get reading from the sensor on the oil pan.

if you have stealth gauges on it will only read when giving it 50% or more throttle. if they are not on the gauges will always be moving.

Here is a pic of my oil temp stuck at 93 degrees after my car had already warmed up and been driving for a while. It’s just and not moving at 93 degrees. I just need to know what sensor I need to buy to fix this? Is the oil temp taken from the same sensor as the oil level sensor?

One quick work around to get the JB4 working the next time the sensor cuts out is to set 'Future Use D' to 4 in the User Adjustment. This uses 160F water temp instead of 160F oil temp for the warmup safety. This is what I use. JB4 comes on much sooner with water temp.

yeah because the car isn't actually warm yet.. oil could easily be less than 100 deg F when water hits 160 depending on ambient..

Just don't smash until you've drove for 20 minutes.
