Catless DP in California?

Hey everyone,

I'm going to be picking up a used F30 335i EWG at the beginning of the new year and have some plans in mind for mods.

The things i'd like to do are:
- Catless DP
- Secondary Cat & Muffler Delete
- Intake or high-flow air filter
- Aluminum Charge Pipe
- MHD Stage 1(or 2)

My three questions about the catless dp are:
  1. If a police officer were driving behind me, is it likely that they would smell fumes and pull me over then issue a state ref?
  2. Would it be possible to shoot flames with the listed mods?
  3. If flames aren't possible/likely, would it be worth getting the catless dp for louder burbles or just stick to the stock dp with full straight pipe after it to avoid emission issues?

I am located in the LA area.

Thanks!
- Sami

You want to shoot flames out of the back of your car and are only concerned that the Popo might smell fumes.....

Haha yeah, I only plan on having burbles active in sport plus so I’m hoping it’d shoot flames during the burble

I'd go catless DP and full straight pipes out the back. Nobody will notice.

Either the OP has no intention of actually registering his car, or he has a sex tape of the head of the CA DMV and whoever supervises emissions testing. Maybe even the two of them together.

All I asked was if it's possible to shoot flames. Even if it is possible with what I have listed, it's not like I'd have the tune set that aggressive constantly. It would only be for meets.

My buddy has an F32 428i with a catless dp and full straight pipe along with a burble tune, he's never had issues with the police and he drives like a dick lol.

That's why I'm asking how it would be with an N55 since it's going to be a lot louder than his N26.

I'm not too worried about smog checks.

Sami - you might shoot flames with that setup PLUS BootMod3. Just move the slider all the way to the right for max burble. My car has dp with hi-flow muffler. BM3 burble slider is at minimum. On sports and sports+ i get loud pops when car is properly warmed. No flames though. Don't wanna blow up my pipes.

I'm in CA by the way. I only got pulled over for speeding and dark tint.

I appreciate the response. Do you know if there is a difference between the MHD burble and Bootmod3 burble? I've been looking between the two trying to decide.

Again, that's your deciding factor?

Dude....buy a flame thrower from Elon Musk and connect it up to the back if your car.

There is no secondary cat. That's an E9x thing.
