WiFi

Can anyone help me understand how the vehicle WiFi works? I connected my phone to the vehicle WiFi but it's useless/everything "times out." It's my understanding that we have a hotspot built in for mobile devices.....

It doesn't work. Search for another thread about the hotspot.

It doesn't work *yet* (supposedly). Other threads talk about a few missing things between BMW cellular and the providers (AT&T, etc) but once that's done (rumor is January) we'll be good to go.

You will still need a cellular contract in place - the car acts like a cell phone from the perspective of the providers (with a SIM card etc)

BMW NA called me on Friday to update me and this affects all G05s. They still haven't found the issue but they don't believe it's on BMWs side. He said they've been running diagnostics on the connection between the HotSpot and the cellular radio and that connection is working fine. And Obviously the data works since ConnectedDrive works. They are going to follow up with my weekly until it's resolved.

I went through this frustration with my F15. Unclear instructions and finger pointing between BMW and AT&T. I finally gave up trying to renew after the 3 month trial subscription and said screw it. My passengers can use their phone to do do what they need to do online.
