Why is the X5 missing remote parking?

The new 5 and 7 have remote parking which is handy for a big vehicle as it means you can pull the vehicle out of a parking bay and get in with more room to open the doors fully.

I wonder why this isn’t being offered on the G05 X5? Seems a shame as I for one would find this useful having a bad back and needing a bit more room to climb in.

Makes me wonder why they even bother offering the display key as an accessory

I agree. The remote parking would have been a great option for the G05. I would have been all over that one. My brother has it on his M550 and comes in handy for those tight spaces. Probably save a few door dings.

I don't get the display key especially now that we have the Connected Drive App.

I'm getting the Excellence pkg in Canada that includes the Sky Lounge. I doubt I would have paid for it if it was an option outside of the package.

I was driving on the Hwy here (speed limit is 75mph) and an on coming tractor trailer had alot of shut fly off hitting the Audi like a shotgun. The damage was about $40K so I had my insurance total the car out after 11k miles.

thanks, it happened when the car had 9700miles and I was going to have the first service done... 2k miles later was after I took it to the shop since this happened in November of last year and I was traveling around the holidays (road trips are always fun) The car was completely function but a ton of stuff unbeknownst to me were broken. (Headlight brackets, ACC brackets, tons of paint chips, dents, other damage behind the grill etc) I'm glad they caught all of these things because it was a big mess.

below was my car, anyway back on topic

So glad you were okay. Scary for sure. At least you weren't driving one of your BMWs at the time. Natural selection?

I immediately stopped, it was certainly an interesting event. This was before my BMW, so I guess all is not bad

I don't think that's the case asremote parking isn't available on the X5 anywhere in the world. The skylounge roof hasn't got approval for the US market yet but will be available later in 2019.

Since when? The 7 Series got the sky lounge option a while ago here.

The option has to get approval for each model. It's been approved for the 7 and X7, but won't be approved for the X5 till later this year

What's there to approve? From the 7 Series I've seen with it there's nothing really abnormal for approval

It has to go through various government approvals. I've had various conversations with corporate about it as I really wanted it on my X5 as I love it in our 7

Seems odd that it needs some special approval when nothing's special to require that; Id' like it on my X5 too! The X7 would be an option but I have absolutely no need for 3 rows, hell the X5 is larger than I really need but I want the luxury options it has.

I thought the "real" reason was that BMW wanted to reserve unique features for the more expensive models to enable easier upselling in countries where there are lots of rich people willing to pay a premium for it?

Cripes, we are at $100k with our X5. The X5 is already big for a family of 4 or 5. Last thing I want is to cart around all that additional weight and length when my family is NOT with me. The 50i M-Sport is Dads ride.
