I think my collision avoidance system may not be working.

I think my car may be having an issue with the collision avoidance system. I know all the sensors work because the auto drive part works and it slows down and stops when their is a car ahead of it. But if I'm driving and a car in front of my slams on the breaks the car doesn't really react. On my. Volvo it would flash something on the dash and tap the break. With the x5, one time a red symbol appeard on the dash but besides that it didn't tap the brakes.

Thank you

Is there a way for me to check on the car itself?

Thank you

I recived my car on December 10th. At that time my dealer said that it had to be up to date or they can't deliver it. Was this update released after that date?

Thank you

We have yet to see any collision avoidance warnings on our X5. Which is kind of worrisome, because it’s not something easy to just test safely!

You must have the ZDB Drivers Assistance Package ($1700) to have high speed collision mitigation. The base system is a city speed only and works up to 30mph.

We have that package on ours. Still zero alerts of any kind.

I had one kind of alert come on the other day... but I don't know what it means. In the cruise control display inside the speedometer, there are the little horizontal bars that show how close the following distance is for cruise control. The other day (in a curve I entered too fast), one of those bars turned red and the car started beeping. Any idea what that was?
