Display Key / Air Suspension

Our G05 order will be processed in a few weeks as I'm not looking to take delivery before April to avoid trying to find a winter setup and drag it out to avoid the new model hiccups.

I'm trying to understand the purpose of the Display Key option ($300) and if I really need it. Our G05 will have the Air Suspension as this was a must to lower the vehicle for my folks. I know the digital key will have the option to lower it but can the G05 be set to lower automatically when Park is engaged and or can it be lowered using the Connected App? I have a 2017 Jeep GC Summit with Air Suspension and that can be set / is set to lower once Park is engaged.

Also, are there any other features that the Digital Key offers out side of what the Connected App offers.

No to both - at least here in the states. Would be a great option in both places though... Like my air suspension a lot.

If you lower it and exit the car will it retain that position?

Not an expert but thought I read somewhere that it automatically lowers in the UK when engine is turned off.

In the US you can't order a display key yet, where are you seeing the option?

On UK configurator, 2 axle air suspension is standard.

UK makes sense, I wish we had the option here from the start.

You can lower the car from the display key but haven't checked if it retains it while locked. Once you start driving it levels off

My Jeep retains the lower setting and only until you drive does it level off and once it reaches 100 km/h it lowers to aerodynamic position. The key fob for the Jeep doesn't do anything out of the ordinary. It's usually in pocket.

It would be good to know if it retains the lowered position. If not, I should probably add the Display Key and this would be important in getting my mom in the X5.

Yes - I just tried this. Interesting... So, I have a tennis ball on a string, hanging from the the garage ceiling - that tells me where to stop (just as it contacts my windshield) in my garage so I don't hit my other vehicle in front of me - but still leave enough room behind me for the garage door to close without hitting my bumper.

So - I started the X5, lowed it all the way (Tennis ball now sitting well above the windshield) and then turned off the X5, got out and walked away far enough to let the comfort access lock it. Put the keys down. Went back. It stayed in the fully lowered position. I then got back in, started it up and it stayed lowered compared to the tennis ball. Drove it out of the garage and it raised itself up as I got underway.

There is a button on the lower section of the trunk that also will lower the vehicle down all the way to assist in loading it.

It does not here in the US. I park against my trusty tennis ball and the X5 stays the same relative to the tennis ball as I put her in park, get out and walk away.

Great stuff. Thank you for doing that. I think I can do without the display key unless it's got other features that the Connected Drive App does not.

Thanks again!

Keep the questions coming - happy to test. It helps me to learn more about how this system works as well.

I wonder....if you always leave the car parked with the suspension all the way down, will it shorten the longevity of the air suspension since it's in the "compressed" mode more times than not?

I hope not. My Jeep has been that way everyday for 1 1/2 years and the previous one was about 5+ years old with no issues with the exception of shocks ($500). My Jeeps are the cottage runners so I typically have high mileage on those.

I had an E70 with the 3rd row and Air Suspension that my wife drove which is typically a low mileage vehicle. When one of the rear air bags went I replaced both. Back in the day that was a $1,500 expense. Not sure what that expense would be today.
