Angry injector 6 replace? help?

Hello Everyone,

I needed to change my injector 6. So i put a used injector in without coding and tried to start the car and now i get 2d5c DME. I tried to clean wipe out code but it keeps coming back. I tried to code injector but the ipna will not read the ecu. did the used injector fry my computer. I tried to put old injector back still the same code. Any suggestions?

It can't fry the computer, or very unlikely... check the DME relay in the engine bay inside DME box , or inside the car on the fuse panel (for 2008+).
Relay is 12 bucks from bmw. You can temporarily swap the 2 I mentioned above, as they are both same rating/model and try again.

ok I will try the relay first. If that doesn't work maybe it could be voltage problem I had to boost my car?

What index are the 5 injectors... does the one you replaced match or is it different?

If you didn't replace the teflon seal (this requires a special tool) near the tip of the injector (small rubber like ring) then your asking for trouble. They mould to the size of the bore and once removed are no good.

If you buy a new injector, they are ready to drop straight in

This is irrelevant to the problem - OP's car won't start (I presume) and it's not because the Teflon ring needs replacement or the index doesn't match.

OP - the simplest explanation is that your DME is damaged. Again, simplest explanation is that the damage is related to the installation of a used replacement injector. A short in the injector could in theory damage the output transistor (MOSFET) in the DME. MOSFET failure seems to typically result in 30BA or 30BB codes, not 2D5C. However, 2D5C signifies a DME internal fault and that is unlikely to go away on it's own

It's not obvious how a bad DME relay would result in 2D5C - that would usually give you 2ACB.

ok I found out what the problem was it was due to bad battery. The low voltage to the ecu was messing it up. The runs good and no miss fires But i put a new injector in too at the same time with out coding it. I will still code the injector after i put everything back together.

thank you for your help

There you go, well done. I was not convinced it's the DME, they rarely go.

I spent hundreds of dollars chasing a potential bad DME, and it was not. It almost never is...
