Heated Steering Wheel
Has anyone experienced that the steering wheel gets heated too much and you have to shut the heating off. I can't leave it on for more than 5 minutes, I just realized mine could be heating too much as when I got X3 as a loaner, the heated wheel in X3 is even and doesnt get too hot.

I would like more heat on the steering wheel and the seats.

There was a way to code this on the F generation of vehicles, I wonder if its possible on the G; I'll take a look when I get my X5 soon.

It was too hot on my F15 (too hot at times to keep on), but is definitely not as hot on my G05. It's much closer to warm than hot. It also takes longer warm up. The F15 was hot long before my seats heated up. On my G05, they both warm up about the same.

I agree, F15 was much warmer, G05 doesn't get as hot. Perfect for me, but hopefully coding will allow you to change it to your preference.

Yes, f15 has always gotten hot enough that I turn it off after about 5 minutes. Which is fine, once it's heated up and the rest of cabin has warmed up, it's fine. I've never needed to turn it back on, so it never bothered me to turn it off.
What did bother me was the fact that you couldn't see the light indicating whether it was on or not. Is the control switch better located on the G05 so you can see it?

Nice. Glad they fixed that. It was a little thing, but always irritated me. It's an on/off toggle pushbutton, so you can't tell by feel whether it's on or off, and it's located on the steering column, behind the steering wheel spoke, so you can't see the little light on the button that indicates if it's on. Can't feel it, can't see it...... Somebody didn't think that one through.

If your F15 was equipped with HUD, it would display a message in the dash instrument cluster if your heated steering was activated/deactivated as you pressed the button. Recalled this showing up on 2016+ F15s onward. Was yours pre-16'? Video isn't of a F15, but works the same on my '17 F15. Ah haha, I found your reply on the thread back in 17. https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1439615

I don’t have the M steering wheel and agree that it’s a bit too hot. There is no LED on the button to indicate it’s on. Only indication is a message that comes up on the instrument cluster. In contrast, my comfort seats don’t seem to heat enough.
