Current Owners Would you Buy Again?
I have mine on order but has not started production. With all these issues I am getting worried about receiving a vehicle that full of problems.
Current owners, would you give advice to buy or to pull my order? Are the problems minor and just a nuisance or are they really frustrating taking enjoyment out of the purchase? |

For me so much better than the previous generation, a few minor annoyances, but otherwise so much better than the F15, absolutely better.

I've had mine for a little over two weeks and have driven about 800 miles. I would absolutely buy again. I came off of at three year lease of a 535i and was worried about performance, handling, etc. going from a sport sedan to an SUV. Nothing to worry about at all. I have not had the issues that others have shared on this forum...minimal backseat wrinkles, waited for software updates for certain apps, configured settings to my liking and figured some of what I may experience is just a learning curve bc, omg, has technology changed! I say: go for it!

Would I buy again? Yup, all day long. My 2019 X5 drives very well and, compared to my 2013 X5, it's a big upgrade. Some of the autonomous/driver assist features and technology are very impressive.
Any bitching coming out of me has to do with pushing back on BMW to fix the stuff that is obviously wrong. The things that you can't possibly miss as a manufacturer - yet - BMW launched with these bugs anyway. The software issues/bugs can be (and likely will be) fixed - My Garage's build tracking bugs, Connected App's bugs, Connected Website's bugs, iDrive's bugs...my list is long and still growing. Frankly this stuff shouldn't be the customer's problem in the first place. These are all things that are in plain sight and a company like BMW should hold themselves to the higher standards that we all buy into. All that said, GREAT vehicle. (fix your shit BMW) |

Yes, I would. None of the bugs / quirks / annoyances have bothered me enough to change my mind. It feels nice to be on the cutting edge with a new model.

Absolutely.
It was between the Cayenne S and 50i M-Sport. The Q8 was briefly considered until a test drive. Bad Range Rover previous experience so the RR Sport was out. GLS AMG63 was too dated and that was out. I would buy a 3 row if it had the performance but it’s not needed and carrying around the extra length all the time wasn’t appealing. I basically went in with little to no price restrictions for my search. I am thrilled with my choice. Last edited by MystroX5; 01-06-2019 at 08:09 AM.. |

Short answer is YES!
Had the Gen 1 E53 2003 4.4 X5 from 2003-2015 with 157K miles and it was still going strong before it was totaled from being rear ended. I test drove the F15...didn't buy it. It was like drive a tuna boat in rough wake. Decided to wait for the G05. It was worth the almost 4-yr wait. I'm not a tech/gadget guy, just pure performance and handling. My E53 had much better steering (hydraulic) and ride (non-run flat). The G05 steering and ride is very good, better than the F15. I think my G05 X5 overall performs better than my 2014 335i Sport. I don't enjoy driving the F30 335i any more after having the X5 for a month now. Law of comparison. |

Yes, I think most of the issues you've heard about were resolved. Usually why I never buy a first build run of any new BMW. generally wait a year, but was sick of waiting. I haven't really had any of the mentioned issues on my Dec build, and they just fixed the app issue (at least on mine.) My only concern is how well all this stuff will work in 3-4 years which is why I decided to lease. Might buy one when lease is up.

Yes, but I reserve the right to change my mind after warranty expires and I need service This is my first BMW and I have heard horror stories from friends (BMW owners) from 7-8 years ago of expensive repairs and bad service depts compared to Lexus. But I test drove several Lexus / Range Rover / Volvo models and the BMW looked the best and had the best tech and drove the best.
So I'm hoping the complainers that cautioned me are just sour grapes types with unreasonable expectations |
