Due to a contract negotiation AT&T and BMW have come to an impasse that prevents us from using them at the moment. When I go to https://myvehicle.att.com/ and enter the telephone number from connecteddrive.bmwusa.com it tells me that the number is not compatible. It gives the following message.

Quote:
Error
Unfortunately, your vehicle is incompatible with current services offered through this portal. If you feel that you've received this message in error, please contact your vehicle manufacturer or a customer service representative at 1 (866) 595-1222.
When you call the number a rep for AT&T will tell you contact BMW. When you call BMW they'll tell you to contact AT&T or tell you the real reason is a contract spat between BMW and AT&T.

I really just want to add this device to my business account at AT&T. Is this method working? Anyone had any luck? How can I find the SIM card number and the IMEI number for the car? Anyone had any luck?

The hotspot came with an option that we all paid for. It was one of the reasons a lot of us even got that option to start with. If it isn’t ever going to work, it seems to me we’re entitled to at least a partial refund of the cost of that option.

Any G05 lawyers on here?

The hot spot should be working on the day of delivery. I did not do anything but enable the internet connection check box under "comms" menu. Have you tried doing that?

How much was the option, I don't remember selecting it?
While i'd like the convenience of permanently powered device, I find the convenience of having one of these, my son is now connected to it outside of the car.
This unit cost me $40 with a contract.

Yep. Tried all of that. I even tried connecting a device to the hotspot and requesting a site to hopefully get an activation page. Still doesn't work. Nothing comes up at all. It's a dead connection.

The option package that included it was $2050 when I ordered mine. I think it has come down since then.

I guess in theory we can say we got the whole package just for the hotspot, I think you mean premium package, it came down only because they separated parking from it.
I don't mind getting the credit especially if we can get the full premium package cost, but for now I don't sweat it.

I”m not “sweating it” ... just providing food for thought.

Interesting. I suspect this is why remote services from the Connected Drive app and Remote 3D View aren’t working....

Good question, although the Remote 3D was working until recently while the hotspot has never worked.

That's correct. The 3D view comes over the onboard cell from the car. Not the hotspot subscription.

I am having the exact WIFI hotspot registration issue the OP is having. My devices connect to the car no problem. The X5 WiFi works perfectly and I can even screen cast my Note 8 via the onboard WiFi.

The issue is my X5’s phone number is not registered with ATT. ATT says it’s a easy fix for the dealer to activate my free 3 month trial but my dealer doesn’t know how and has calls out to their tech. ATT operator says they have seen many new X5’s have this issue. The WiFi hotspot registration is its own issue and not connected to other remote service issues. I have 20 days to get this up and running before a long family road trip.

I understood the issue was ATT not yet working with iDrive7. There was a discussion on this somewhere and current hope is that an update happens in Jan to resolve the problem. If that is the issue then it will certainly be fixed as more cars will start rolling out with iDrive7, just a question of when.

Nope. A Genius calls me weekly to tell me they're still working on it...

You don’t think the Wifi hotspot also works over the onboard cell through AT&T? Of course it does.

I don’t see how they wouldn’t be related.

Some data is still being transmitted, as Connected Drive updates the location, etc of both my vehicles in the app.
