Rain-X: yes or no?

I used it on my last car (Infiniti fx45) for a decade with no problems (that I know of). I have glass empathy so I don't like to use the wipers except when absolutely required, and a coat of Rain-X every month or so made me able to not turn on the wipers above 30 mph.

I talked to a windshield guy once and he said it's bad for the glass but I can't remember the specifics. Anyway for you detailers out there what do you think of the product (in general and on my G05?)

I use Meguiar's D156 Synthetic Xpress Wax as a drying aid when I wash my car (including glass) it tends to have the same effect as Rain-X but benefits the whole car.

You can also have your windshield ceramic coated if/when you have your paint work done.

The hydrophobic properties of the ceramic coating “should” act just like rain X, but last for much longer duration.

I always use a glass sealant on my windshield and side/rear windows once a month. It helps out enough for me to continue the process. If you apply any coating ensure you clay the surface first to avoid any tiny debris from getting sealed in

I’ve had the best luck with Polish Angel Rain 9h as the ceramic coating then as a maintenance cleaner/protectant, Polish Angel Diver. It’s the best combo I’ve found so far.

It came with a special applicator that made it pretty simple. Surfing around, it looks like they were acquired by "Pen Industries". I can't seem to locate any retail product which is a bummer - I used my last applicator on my new G05. The stuff was effective for over a year after one application.

Nope - smooth clearing. Used the wipers just today to clear a very light fog off - ideal chatter conditions - nothing.
