Canadian Buyers- Percent off MSRP ?

For us Canadians, curious what % off MSRP are you getting? I haven't placed my order yet but got 5%. Please don't include any other rebates, credits etc.

I managed to get 5% off my X5 50i that I ordered last week.

I am currently trying to negotiate a further 2% off MSRP with the BMW Reward Program but only https://trilliumbmwclub.ca/ are offering an instant discount if you sign up for 3 years. I'm intrigued if it works as the rest of the chapters in BMW Club Canada are stipulating you must be a member for 1 year already and that is also what BMW Canada have told me, but Trillium are adamant they will be able to make it work. Fingers crossed!

I only managed to get 3.5% off, from a starting position of them not wanting to offer anything. They did also increase the offer on my trade, but I just didn't really have time to shop around. Usually I would be much more thorough in the negotiation / shopping around, so I'm sure it's easy to do much better than this.

I got 6% off.
Thanks for providing information for this chapter. I also reached out to them to confirm that the 2% can be received after purchasing a 3 year membership. I hope I"m not too late as my X5 is ordered but not yet delivered to me.

Let me know what response, if any, you get.

I had a few initial emails but now it comes down to the crunch it's radio silence. The other chapters in Canada are all saying one year membership in advance.

I was told the same and gave up on the fact that I could get the discount. I heard back from Trillium and just confirming details, however they are saying it will take at least 3 weeks to get the letter from BMW CCA to give to the dealer. If I want the discount, I have to have the letter before taking delivery, which is expected in about 2 weeks for me. 2% is a significant amount so I'm thinking of holding off delivery but only if the 2% is guaranteed. I'll keep you posted.

The site says :

"...
To be considered eligiable for this discount you must:

Be a full member in good standing with the Club (i.e. membership dues are paid up for the current year)

Have been a BMW Clubs of Canada Club Member for 12 months or greater or have bought a three-year membership. There is NO exception to this BMW Canada mandated rule.
...
"
http://www.trilliumbmwclub.ca/membershipreward

The bold part implies that if you get the three year membership, you don't need to have been a member for 12 months prior.

I've done this twice so far.

First time was because I was a 1 year member and during the next year they came out with the '3 year membership ruling'

I submitted my form to Trillium chapter member on Nov 2nd and got my approval letter on Nov 12th. It is good for 6 months.
I had to cancel my initial order but will be within the 6 months when I order soon.

But it must be done before you finalize your deal. Then again, if you threaten to cancel your deal, dealership might reconsider.

So we can do it by signing up for the 3 years.

Ok, I just signed up and will fill out the form. I guess I'll need to cancel it and reorder. That's going to get messy.

I live in BC so I am waiting for the Trillium chapter to confirm I am still eligible if I join their chapter in ON. I don't see any rules prohibiting that but they say they are unsure.

I spoke to my dealer and they have no issue delaying delivery until I get the letter. I just signed up for the membership and completed the form for the rebate. Now the waiting game..

We clearly have one of two things happening. Either BMW Canada needs to allow all Canadian chapters to offer this same deal, or if Trillium has been selling 3 year memberships and claiming that the member has been a member for a year, that could seriously jeopardize the whole program.

I hope your applications work out and you get the letter. Keep me posted. I intend to follow up with BMW Group Canada. I don't understand how there can be different rules for each province. Either BMW Canada honors the discount program for new members signing up for 3 years in all provinces, or not at all. If they are allowing different rules in each province, that seems a bit unfair.

Update from the Trillium Club chapter:

"This issue is that Trillium is affiliated with BMW Car Club of America whereas the other Canadian chapters are not. We offer the 3 year membership (and its benefits) in accordance with BMWCCA.

BMW Group Canada has decided to look into this aspect further. It wants to ensure that all Canadian members are being treated fairly. In the end, it's still car sales for BMW. BMW Group Canada has delayed processing on other requests and it is very frustrating both for me and the members."

That makes sense but odd how a Canadian chapter can be associated with BMWCCA. I don't think any of the others are. Also with BMWCCA, i believe a rebate cheque is mailed to the customer and it can be submitted even after taking delivery.

By the way, I was also informed that had I not been a resident of Ontario, I would not qualify as you have to be registered in the same province as the chapter.

I still have doubts this is going to work out but fingers crossed

Below is the letter I received from BMW Canada within 3 weeks of the Trillium Club confirming I was enrolled for at least the previous 12 months.

We are pleased to confirm that your nomination for inclusion under our BMW Clubs of Canada Program has been approved. Your BMW Clubs Approval Number is BMW18-### and is effective with the date of this letter.

As an eligible participant of our BMW Clubs of Canada Program, we are pleased to provide you with this Letter of Approval which entitles you to receive a 2% discount off of the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (“MSRP”) of a new BMW vehicle at any one of our authorized BMW retailers.

After you have selected the Retailer of your choice, and you have purchased your vehicle, please present this Letter of Approval for the additional value added noted above. Please note that your VIP approval is considered over and above the price negotiated with the retailer of your choice.
This VIP value added will then be calculated and applied against your sales agreement.

Please note that the following conditions apply to the BMW Clubs of Canada Program:

 Value Added applies to MSRP only of Vehicle and Factory Installed Options.
 Original Letter of Approval must be surrendered at time of purchase. No photocopies or facsimiles will be accepted.
 Certificate is non-transferable and has no cash value.
 Value Added is limited to purchase, lease or finance, of one (1) vehicle only and is applicable only to New BMW Vehicles (i.e. not inclusive of demo vehicles).
 Offer is valid for a period six (6) months from the date of issue. Offer valid in Canada only.
 BMW Canada Inc. reserves the right to amend or cancel this program at any time without notice.

Please accept our sincere thank you for your valued business. We wish you many kilometres of enjoyment in your new BMW, the Ultimate Driving Experience.

Kind Regards,
Michael Ferreira
Director of Sale

Thanks for sharing CdnBMW I think we have enough evidence now to convince BMW Canada that they need to honor the discount for people signing up for a 3 year membership in all provinces.

This is great guys! I've sent in the form and made the dealership aware. They said they would have no issues applying the discount once I get the approval. Fingers crossed as we wait to hear.

"The discount program listed on the BMW Clubs Canada is accurate. It describes the agreement reached between BMW Clubs Canada and BMW Group Canada (the distributor), and has always been a 'member reward' program - providing a 2% discount for people that have been members for more than one year.

BMW Car Club of America (BMW CCA) has negotiated their own discount program with their distributor BMW NA. It is for people buying cars in the US from retailers in that country. It is not applicable in Canada.

The Trillium club has chosen to depart from the bylaws and constitution of BMW Clubs Canada and is now in fact under suspension. They have also chosen to display affiliation with BMW Car Club of America - contrary to the international guidelines under which all official BMW Clubs are subject. Finally, through BMW CCA, BMW NA and a separate connection into BMW Group Canada, Trillium has managed to have generated a few discount letters from BMW Canada for a small number of participants that bought three year memberships but were not members before that time. I believe these letters were produced in error but were honoured nonetheless.

BMW Group Canada has confirmed that the discount agreement between BMW Group Canada and BMW Clubs Canada continues as described on national website- membership for more than one year. They have corrected their internal process and will reject applications based on buying a 3 year membership.

BMW Group Canada does not have an agreement with BMW CCA members and leaves that to BMW NA.

I hope this clarifies the rules. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Chris Pawlowicz
President, BMW Clubs Canada"
