Launch control and wheelspin

It's very frustrating, my car goes out of launch control very frequently especially with racechip. I am very jealous when you guys post 0 to 60 times of 2.7 sec with racechip.
I have tried different roads, diff rpms. Even on drag strip sometimes it does that.
Is there something wrong with my car? It happens with wheelspin or wheel hop when launching. I have stock 20 inch Michelin 4s tires.
I am pretty sure e63s does not do this.

To get 2.7 , I have to time the pedal release perfectly or it’s spin city with RC. You will need a warm road, no sand on it and it helps if the tires are warmed up a few miles of driving. Then a 2600 rpm launch. Good luck !

+1
You can't wait to long, as soon as you see those flags you release the break, otherwise it will build boost and it will spin like crazy.
Practice buddy

I am going with wider and stickier tires

Try dropping the tire pressure to like 25 psi, that should help you get more grip

BMW LC is not the best, especially on this new chassis.
I couldn't get my G30 540 to do LC with RaceChip.
The rear wheel will spin off traction before the LC.

It was much easier on my previous, F15 X5 and F06 650GC.

I going to track tonight will keep pressure around 28psi cold in all 4 and see what happens. Will either add race gas if pump has it or boostane to arizona 91 octane gas.

Bring tire gauge also to keep an eye on the hot tire pressure.
I am not too familiar in drag, but when I do track day, I try to maintain my tires around 32-34 hot.

The JB4 can set boost by engine speed and gear so maybe that is part of the difference. There is only so much you can do with two connection points to the engine.

Today was 1/8 mile unprepped surface racing.
Best was 7.4 sec 1/8 mile. Dragy reported best 0 to 60 3.4 sec. Also was using race gas 5 gallons 100 octane added to about 1/2 tank. Race chip set at race mode. 0 to 60ft did not improve more than 1.8 sec.
Man something is wrong with my car, others can do better even stock.

onfireX5 and Miko M maybe can give you some pointer on the tricks.
Maybe you can give us the details on how you run the car.
Such as, launch RPM, driving mode, shifter mode, traction control mode, etc.

Stock is only 0.2 to 0.3 sec slower without racechip.
Last evening 0 to 60 was about the same with racechip on or off.
Maybe the race gas was fake. Next time will use boostane only.

My m2 button is all set for launch control everything in sport plus and shifter in manual.
I let it go as soon as the flag comes.

I didn't have much time to run many pulls with performance tires before I switched to winter tires.

What is your altitude, temperature, humidity in your area?

Most important is the traction.
Obviously more spin more lost time.

You need to WARM up those tires for better traction!

Here are some numbers I got 0-60 on winter tires with RC

Are you set full 4WD in M2 button? My M2 is set at sport plus on engine, transmission S3 and xDrive with DSC off with full 4WD not MDM to make sure max power loading on front wheel.

The attached dragy run was on map 6 (CA 91 octane) without early brake release for full rpm in LC. Road/tire temp is quite important. I ran most runs in Bay area near Tesla. The weather was near 70 for the run (a bit after noon time). I tried few times at night and got too much spin as temp were bellow 45.

I tried map 7 but it required early brake release for spin control. Less turbo boost made the time similar to map 6 full rpm. Replacing both rear tires soon and will try to see if that will allow full rpm LC under map 7?

I used to live in Indiana, a beautiful place in winter. However, I don’t miss it that much if driving a F90 M5. With this big toy, 40 degree is good for little sliding fun with MDM 4WD or bigger excitement with 2WD if there is more room...... Hope you will enjoy the up coming spring!
