Nissan GTR DESTROYS Corvette C6 Z06

What are you joking me? The GTR can't even take the vette off the line with its SUPERIOR ALIEN AWD technology. One in tons more disappointing videos to come, I have to admit its still a nice car though all the hype aside.

But in the end, from a roll. The Z06 worked the GT-R.

I don't find it too surprising. In the Gtboard videos, the Z06 took down a lot of very expensive cars.

Simple maths - the Z06 has more horsepower and is what 400lbs? lighter - in a straight line the Z06 will always win...

not from the numbers they were posting for this thing earlier, brings up the point again, were the test cars a bunch of ringers and the production cars a tuned down version?

The best dyno figures I've heard of for the GT-R are 475HP/580NM at the hubs on a hub dyno.

The Z06 has recorded very similar results (471HP/596NM at the hubs) on a hub dyno - http://www.rri.se/popup/performanceg...p?ChartsID=630. Admittedly the GT-R torque curve is pretty close to peak at 3000RPM onwards, whereas the Z06 has a peakier torque curve, but at full blat in a straight line, the Z06 has the torque where it needs it and matches the GT-R in terms of power output.

So at best for the GT-R, the GT-R and Z06 have reasonably similar power outputs, but the Z06 is much lighter in weight.

Therefore the Z06 should always have a (significant) straight line advantage.

With a single exception (that I know of), the GT-R has always been merely mortal out on the road in a straight line. Right from the first test in Edmunds (where the car posted sterling quarter mile times but couldn't stay with a Porsche Turbo from a roll), it was clear that except for an apparently magical launch control system, the car wasn't anything special in a straight line, given its power and mission.

Oh. The single exception was that "test mule" that C & D put through its paces several months ago. The one that topped 124 mph in the quarter mile.

In contrast, the Z06 is Big Medicine out on the road, when traction isn't a major issue. Sub-3200 pound weight (unladen) and 505 HP guarantee that.

The youtube footage appears to show the Z06 jumping the gun on the GT-R from a dead stop.

So, nothing new here. The Z06 owns the GT-R in a straight line from a roll (and owns almost everything else, as well) - while of course the GT-R owns pretty much everything on track.

Yeah i'm sorry, as Bruce knows already i'm very biased when it comes to the GTR . I don't believe it'll destroy on the track either, but that's the beauty of cars I'm glad cars can bring out emotions in me where other subjects of life cannot.

Pro tip for whoever films these youtube clips: It really doesn't come out so well when it's pitch black out and you have autofocus turned on.

As expected....Zo6 will kill the GTR from a roll. GTR is just too heavy.

In addition, the GTR's losing distance could have been shorter.I'm living in Dubai, so I know that the GTR was released in the Middle East around two weeks ago. So keeping that in mind, there could be other factors slowing down the GTR like for instance: the car wasn't broken in(please don't argue on the breaking down period .....I know from experience that cars become faster after a putting on some miles on the odometer) or the driver didn't know when to shift(Sweet spot for turbo cars to shift are usually low.. less then 7000rpm).
Even then, I can't deny the fact that the Zo6 would still win but the margin would be alot shorter.

Anyway, great find op. The dude who posted this video on youtube, really knows how to chose a good camera ....!

Drivers make all the difference in the world. I remember about 10 years ago, the drivers @ Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords got an LS1 Camaro through the quarter mile in 12.89 seconds. This was a BONE stock LS1 Camaro Z28, and easily one of the quickest times ever recorded for a stock V8 Camaro.

Obviously .. LS1 Camaro owners try to reproduce those times, and most (if not all) of them fail. Why? The same reason why Itzhak Perlman would play the violin 10000X better than someone who's only been playing for a few months. Talent. Training. Experience.

According all the reviews the GT-R is very easy to drive.

I think it's as simple as the RWD vs. AWD roll race thing. It takes a significant amount of power compared to the competitor that has power to the rear wheels to be able to match in a roll race. For example from a dig the EVO runs a similar time to the SS Camaro (F-Body) but from a roll the Pushrod would totally make the EVO its bitch.

Since the thread is active again, it really is not a contest. Both cars are incredibly fast, no doubt about that. But the Z06 will just eat anything up until 162mph. My GT-R is incredibly fast, just put it into R mode an hour ago and let 'er rip 'til 140.... ridiculous but not the fastest road car out there. Just THE best all around high performance car.

Not THE best, but close.

How often you track your GT-R?

I hope all GT-R owners actually take them to the track.
