H&R Anti-Roll Bars Installation ++-
Springs = installed
Front Sway Bar = installed Rear Sway Bar = unable to install Went to F1 Motorsports to have my H&R Sport Springs and H&R Sway Bar set installed. The springs were no problem, nor was the front stabilizer bar. However, despite a good effort F1 could not remove the factory rear sway bar. This is a company that has installed sway bars routinely on e46s, which are reportedly very easy to work with. I too have installed sway bars on several cars, but the tortuous path of the rear anti-roll bar had me stumped as well. I have a feeling that the rear axle may have to be dropped along with part of the chassis to access the rear bar. BMW Service was not very helpful as they suggested to just "twist and work it." I doubt their service personnel have ever tried to remove one of these on the e90. Needless to say, only the springs and front sway bars were installed. The factory one remains at the rear. Well that sucks. Have you tried contacting one of the H&R reps? They may be able to shed some light on the situation, and where are the pics of the dropped car????
P.S. Those wheels in the background of the first pick are so sick. I was hoping they were yours hehe. |

Hey, where is F1 at? I am in orange county and was trying to have spp install for $150 but can never get ahold of eric. How much was it to install the springs and where are the pics of the car after? Don't tease like that! How long did it take for them to install the springs? Did you wait? Thanks for the info!

You would not believe, but anticipating heavy LA traffic, I left for this place two hours early, and got there an hour early. LoL. I ended up eating fish & chips for breakfast before F1 opened. I was there from 10:00 am till practically 6:00 pm with a nice lunch break with Mava330. I was tired, my car was dirty, and the sun was down by the time I got back to Torrance. Perhaps tomorrow I'll shoot a few quick photos.

Oh Damn! The rear bar is the one too! Oh well, how did the car feel with the front bar and springs? Sorry to hear about the sway bar ordeal! Can't wait to see pics!

I paid $350 for the H&R Springs and Install. I felt this was a good deal.
The front and rear sway bars + install = $500. However, since they were unsuccessful, I was charged $420, and they would add an additonal $50 in the future if they would figure how to install this. In the meanwhile, I have this FAT rear sway bar in the trunk. www.f1motorsports.com is the website. They are located in North Hollywood. |

F1 Info
Talk to Chris Young @ F1. Tell him Rick sent you... They've hooked me up on both my S2000 and 330i. I was actually just there last Wednesday getting H&R Race Springs installed on the 330i

The ride? Still rides smooth, though tiny bumps on the 110 fwy seem ever so slightly more noticeable. The car still sways a little bit with turns, particularly in the rear. I hope a successful rear sway bar will help rectify this. The car doesn't otherwise seem to handle appreciably different. C.O.G. is lower, and the springs are slightly more stiff, but this 3-series is not a little slot car like my 1st generation MR2 was (I don't expect it to be). |

I could always dig out my air compressor, and drop the rear end myself, but I'd rather not. I don't have a weekend to kill, and I DON'T want to drive my Exploder again. It might just blow up this time. HRC, did u install your Konis yet? |

The mechanic said something about brake lines and wires being on the way. I am certain that if there's a will there's a way. I will get this thing installed one way or another.

Increasing the roll stiffness at the front only transfers more of the car's lateral weight to the front outer wheel of a turn. This induces more understeer, though without taking the car to the extreme limit, this is not noticeable. My g/f was hanging on for dear life last night as I was taking those freeway on ramps as fast as I wanted to. I told her, "Sorry, but I just want to see what this feels like."
