Re: New M5 owner (Toronto)

Hey gpinard, Congrats on the new car! I am in Toronto too! We need to organize a mini Canadian M5 meet or something of that sort. I just traded my M6 GC for the new M5 as well... waiting for the European delivery in February! Quick question for you... did they remove the rings in the cluster like they did with a G30 or are the rings still there?

That sounds like a great idea. I actually live in Burlington but it a quick run (even quicker now) in to the big city - just let me know when.

This is my first BMW - just came out of an Audi S6 and having a hard time figuring out the BMW designations so I am not sure what a G30 is. I think you are referring to the rings on the Tach and Speedo which mounted on the gauge cluster and then the electronic dials show up when it starts. A great looking dash.

How does the European delivery work - you pick it up at the factory, head for the autobahn and then come home and wait for it to follow you home? How long does that take. It would be a wonderful way to receive the car but would be hard to sit and wait for it.

Not sure how long does it usually take to ship from Europe to Canada after you are done, but my dealer claims about 3-4 weeks. In my case I ordered the M5 in December so about a month and a half from order to Euro delivery.

Also switched out of M6 GC into F90 M5 in May. Awesome beast! Fantastic in the snow this week. Watch out for the low speed brake squeal driving me nuts. Apparently no fix!

Do you miss your GC at all? Also did you guys get the michelines or perelis with the M5? I hated the perelis on the M6! Brake squeal never bothered me, close the windows turn up the music 🎶
