Custom straight pipe I bet. It sounds like that because single turbo (N55) sounds way better than a N54 naturally due to ST, and that different turbo makes a difference too. You'll never get an N54 to sounds like that, if that's your goal. Unless you go single turbo of course...

Riight, I forgot he was running n55 rather than 54. Unfortunate as I dont think I'll be doing a single turbo conversion but glad I got the answer. Thanks!

He was or still is a member here. Not sure if
he's still active on here though as I haven't seen a post in a long time. Might possibly be able to find a build thread or info looking him up on here.

False, it's simply the merging of exhaust pulses. N54 with a single midpipe ( or single downpipe in the case of ST) sounds exactly like an n55 .

That's literally exactly what I said. ST = single downpipe, TT = dual downpipes......

The dual downpipes on an N54 don't allow the exhaust pulses to merge. Even with a single outlet the n54 it doesn't sound as good as a true single downpipe though.

Possibly from underneath, as long as your eyes don't wander to the sides?

500 hp with that intake coupler? I don't think so. At higher boost that thing collapses and screws up the airflow coming into the turbo. No need to ask me how I know. BTW, that car is butt ugly.
