Removing Rear Center Headrest?

Is there a trick to removing the rear center headrest? I can pull it all the way up, but it stops there. It's a bit of a distraction and I know I'll never have anyone in the rear center seat. Thanks.

Perhaps this is the case?

Can you try that?

I tried this and there is no button underneath the plastic trim piece. Does anyone else have any ideas, or am I missing something?

Follow the video on how to pop-out the plastic tab. Once the tab is off you will need to remove the gray clip that is holds the headrest in. When the gray clip is removed you will be able to slide the headrest out.

This was the first thing I did after I parked it in my garage.

Yes, it's like a C clip. Get a small flat blade screwdriver. You should see the end of it if you're kneeling on the rear seat facing towards the rear. Get behind it and pull towards yourself and toward the back of the car. With little force, it will pop. I believe the pic above is from the cargo area and you're seeing the loop part of the C clip.

Huh, did not know that. Was told years ago you couldn't remove it. Thanks for the post. Learn something new every day as they say

Thank you for the info about the gray clip. Finally got a chance to access my daughter's X2 and spent about two minutes getting this done.

Problem solved and rearward vision improved. Thanks again!
