How to identify if you have wireless charging

Any 3 series with comfort access (convenience package) Will come with an NFC receiver that looks almost identical to the Wireless charging mat.

The wireless charging mat has a different logo and LED light. The NFC mat does not.

Wireless charging pad looks a little small. Do you think something like a Samsung Note 9 or S9+ will fit?

Either that or look at the window sticker for a $500 option called wireless charging.

Awesome. Was just worried about paying for this option then finding out that I couldn't use it. Just hoping phones don't get even larger

I put my iPhone X on a charger at the dealer (too dark to see which one) and the Apple Pay app kept launching. Assuming it has something to do with NFC but why?

Apple only started supporting native NFC tag reading in iPhone XS/XS Max/XR (meaning no app required to scan). For iPhone 7/8/X it still requires an app to read the NFC tag.
That might be the reason that your iPhone X can only recognize it as potential Apple Pay contact point. See if it's the same behavior on iPhone XS/XS Max/XR?
Here is an article that explains iPhone NFC compatibility pretty well: https://www.bluebite.com/nfc/iphone-nfc-compatibility

So, this will require an update from Apple or BMW?

If Apple, then would they even do it considering how Apple Pay works?

No it doesn’t. Wireless charging is an optional package.

This bundle usually comes with enhanced Bluetooth, which also includes crap like SMS dictation. Something to consider, even if your phone doesn't fit.. I skipped this feature for that reason and didn't realize what else I lost.

BMW m340i Wireless Charging for iPhone

Curious as to whether anyone paid for a Wireless Phone Charger ($200) with this car and found a pad for charger and a ridiculous cupholder charger which has to connect to the USB. Why bother with the charging pad. I threw the cupholder charger inthe trash and bought an angled USB adapter and $16 fast charging pad which now sits on top of the built in "charging pad". Works just fine

BUT how is it that BMW is so pathetically backward with built in communications technology. The Japanese (spouse has a Honda with tech that actually works) do much better job - and actually thinking about it so do many of the US companies. Thankfully I can use CarPlay for all my needs (when the built in wireless actually works) which puts the BMW attempts for apps to shame.

Not sure how much longer I'll stick with BMW unless they get their act together and move into the 21st century.

Does anyone have a picture of the connector and wiring that plugs into the bottom of the tray? I broke the connector and want to make sure that I get the wiring correct. There are 4 wires on a 6 lug connector. There one wire, a space, two wires, a spare and the 4th wire.

HI Jay , I just got a 2020 330i with NFC module, is there any retrofit that my local BMW dealer can install and configure on my car?

Unless it's just me the SMS dictation isn't available on iPhone anyway. Might work if you have an Android.

If you are using Apple Carplay it works.
