Meh, just another BMW SUV. I'm more of a 3/5 Series fan, but if they can make money off of it to give us cars like the M2 Comp, I don't really care.

Legend is certainly not the first word coming to mind here
It's too big Too expensive Too ugly What is the remaining attraction or case for this car to exist? BMW have churned our the most awful looking cars lately and angered there central customer base. I've looked at the x5 in different colours, the back is too flat and the front is ugly with that hopeless grill. I'd love to hear in more detail the thought process leading to the purchase of an x7

9" longer overall (wheelbase 5.1" longer) 2.4" taller 18.1 cu.ft larger than the X5. There's been a strong demand for a true third row vehicle from BMW for many years. Like the X5, BMW were not the first to market in 1999, in the SUV segment. Without extensive lightweight technology that we have available today, an X7 with true BMW handling characteristics just wasn't feasible. Today it is. The amount of development that went into the X7 to maximize comfort and handling is significant (see carbon core). I witnessed it firsthand testing in Arctic conditions last year and it's one hell of a machine.

just wish it was a little wider, I know why they didn't make it wider, but that was my only small gripe. I think it will however sell well, I know us personally, already have a handful of request so their is some initial hype.

We're in the thick of the crazed "I must have an SUV" trend in automotive right now. BMW would be stupid not to make this thing. Does it come with a manual? No, nor should it. Will it have a stiffer suspension and hydraulic steering. No, because "gasp", it shouldn't. BMW sells these things to make money and because they'll probably do a real nice job of it. Plus, if it let's them justify the expense of making the M3CS or M2 Competition or dumping money into an AWD M5, I'm all for it. You should be too, because if they don't keep making things like this, then they might stop making M cars all together. -Hot Take |

We have an X5 which we like, but the third row is kind of useless. We looked at the Navigator, Escalade, pretty much all third row vehicles that are out there that have captain chairs in the middle. Even the short based Navigator which is the best option out of anything we looked at is just HUGE. THe X7 is bigger then the X5 but quite a bit smaller then the Navigator. It gives you just enough more room over the X5 without being a behemoth on the road. I think the pictures make it look big due to them wanting it to look and feel big, but in person, I was quite surprised at how much smaller it was then what i thought it would be. They should really put some pics side by side with an X5, X7 and the Navigator. Its closer to the Merc GLS in size with better packaging.

Its high margin low volume car. I'm sure it will steal some of those navigator/escalade customers which i'm not and have no intention of being one |

I saw the X7 at BMW of Manhattan at the end of November last year when I took the 3 in for service. It was in the Service Bay for dealership training. A week later on a Saturday there was a reception to present it to the public. It basically is a bigger X5. The doors are much bigger making getting in and out much easier. The interior is definately high quality. I would say on par with the Range Rover. I wouldn't want one nor can I afford one. But I do get why BMW is making this. The market is there for it. It is going to be big hit.

I test drove the x7 today. Smaller in person, which is a good thing. Looks great, both inside and out. Fantastic drive. Probably going to end up trading in the x5 at the end of the lease. Leather is very nice and glass controls are beautiful. Good job BMW

Legendary for ugliness. This is not going to sell well once people who want one get it. It's just not good looking compared to other SUVs in the same segment.
