Recommendation - Omega watch service / new battery
Sod’s law...my Omega Seamaster battery went when in hospital yesterday.
Usually us e my local Goldsmiths for service etc. Anybody recommend any other options to get it serviced and new battery. It is now 16 years old - so not even sure if it is worth using Omega approved. But once you go elsewhere it affects the value of the watch. Any views / recommendations appreciated. Im in Glasgow, but could send through insured mail. Many thanks. |

I wouldn’t recommend Frasher Hart, I have a Raymond Weil I sent off with their approved service, when it came back they had polished the bracelet of the watch different ie where it was brushed stainless it was then polished and informed me they could not replicate how it was.
Lots or arguing and debating later had to get them to outsource so a London Jewellers so they could put the watch back to original spec.... I shall be a bit more careful where I send it next time.... |

I don't think you can affect it's value down by not using authorized Omega on a quartz watch. Those are pretty low on prices anyway. I would go to a reputable watch repair in your area and ask if they have experience with Omegas. I have a Seamaster Coaxial and it will get the ~$500 service love at Omega on the 5 year mark. But that would be a fraction of the value unlike a quartz where it could very well cost more than the watch.

My Omega went back to Omega in Switzerland for its latest service. Cost a fair bit and took 6 weeks but it was done properly and came back like new.

I sent my Omega Seamaster quartz for a battery change & service at Lumbers in Leicester - cost was about £350. They sent it away & it came back with a black bezel (on a blue watch) ! QC at Lumbers hadn’t noticed - FFS. So it was sent back & a new blue bezel was fitted and they agreed not to charge me , so a good result in the end.

As per of my new Planet Ocean purchased I receive an 'FOC' service on my 19 year old Diver 300. It came back this week with the full paperwork. £0 for me but £420 was the note on the paperwork. Crikey more than a car. If my eyesight were better I'd set up in watch servicing! It did have a couple of parts replaced and is like new so fair enough. I had thought the Quartz service would be a fraction of this.

Thanks for all the helpful feedback.
Been quoted £330 for Omega service. Got it serviced 5 years ago and it came back like brand new. Planning to do the full service again. It's a lot of £, but I really like the watch. As others have said, hoping it comes back like brand new again. |

I have the same watch but the mechanical co-axial version.
Love mine, had it nearly 7 years and wear it every day (apart from in bed). Need to have it serviced soon but don't like the fact that I'll be without it for 6 weeks when it goes in. I checked the time last week against the old interweb atomic clock and it was only 1 second out and it had not been adjusted for 6 approx weeks! It's not always like that, but the accuracy of these mechanical watches is superb considering. |
