Clutch issue? Diff Issue?

So the last month or two intermittently I have been having an issue where I get spirited on the street, shift and the revs surge but the car isn't going anywhere. I don't smell clutch and it grabs fine from a dig. Not throwing any codes.

Any ideas on what it may be? Oddest sensation, almost like I'm in neutral but not...... It's a 6 speed with upgraded clutch and single mass fly....

Clucth grabs from dig? If it isn't then is worn completely. Clutch that stats to give away starts slipping first at high gears. Get it to 6th or 6th and go WOT.

I've been having the same issue for a couple months also. Usually when I'm trying to log. I have an 6 speed with the 335is Clutch and Flywheel both a lil over a year old. Just like you I dont really smell a burning clutch smell. I can go with no problems from a dig, and If I shift regularly or even fast driving I have no problems, Its only when I try to gun it Hard from like 3rd gear while trying to log. but if I'm already in 4th or 5th and start driving hard no issues. I was also thinking it may be time to check out my stock Diff. Hope I can get away with a oil change in the Diff and it will clear it up.

To see if your clutch is slipping, get on the highway, go about 40-50 MPH and go wide open throttle in 4th gear.

A dig does not determine if it's slipping as there isnt as much load. Also a clutch slipping usually won't smell unless it's excessive for a long period of time.

Due to the torque of these engines you notice clutch slipping at higher speeds/higher gears WOT.

Plan on a clutch replacement in your near future.

It's largely based on abuse and mileage, not necessarily age.

We've seen them fail in less then 20K miles with enough abuse or bad driving.

These cars make a lot of torque, it's usually the pressure plate that can't cope. The disc itself usually has plenty of meat on the bone.

That's funny because I had almost the same thing happen to me last week. I'm MHD stage 2+ 102RON (high boost in high rpm for stock turbos) and If I do some hooning 1-2-3 gear with some burnouts or drifts I have a bit of clutch slip in high rpm 3-4 gear. Doesnt happen when just flooring it in 3rd of 4th gear but only when hooning hard with the car. I have a SMFW and 550i clutch just 5000kms in it... Also a lot of turbo howling when drifting in high rpm 2nd gear, but with my LSD it's so much fun.

Time to replace that 550i clutch, only a matter of time now if it's already been slipping.

Anything approaching 500 HP. Specifically > 450, as you'll surely want more.
