New Tire Indents

I ordered a set of tires and they came in today. I took them to my shop to be installed and they pointed out that it had two slight indentations on one inner tire bead, exactly opposite of each other. They said that it MIGHT be a defect, but considering there are two and exactly opposite of each other makes me wonder if it's not just from the shipping straps. Any ideas as I really don't want to have to send them back and go through the whole process of waiting for them to be returned, credited and then purchasing a new one.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Personally I would exchange that tire for a new one without any distortion.

Could be from shipping straps or even that it was mounted before, removed and damaged. Could also be a manufacturing defect.

You could potentially leak air, but if you mount the tire I'm not sure if the supplier will honor any warranty.

What did the guys at your tire shop recommend?

They said that as a shop, they would immediately return it and have a new one sent out so as not to take any chances. If it was a matter of driving up the street and exchanging it, I'd do that in a heartbeat, but I was hopping to avoid having to ship it out, wait for it to get there, be exchanged and wait for the new one. I know that the safe thing to do, but I tend to be impatient...

Not sure how good your relationship is with your tire shop, but worth asking them if they would be willing to give you the same tire now and once the replacement one comes in you just give it to them.

That's actually a good idea and worth a shot, if they have them. But since it's a small town, not likely
