Boost leak or turbos failing?
Hey guys,
I recently installed a VRSF charge pipe with the HKS BOV and new spark plugs and the bov was not secured down properly and blew off while testing stationary. I lost the little o-ring so I replaced it with a generic one from the parts store, however probably not the right size. The next day i took the car for a spirited mountain drive and i started to hear a whine from the car, it sounds like its coming from the passenger side of the car (RHD). It doesn't matter if the engine is cold or hot, it is not smoking and it is most pronounced when building boost (example wot at low revs, but perhaps only because the exhaust is not loud then). I also noticed some oil on cylinder 2 spark plug when changing, thinking this is just the VCG and unrelated. I ran pull last night: https://datazap.me/u/calem/3rd-gear-...og=0&data=3-21 Does it look like the WGDC is pretty high and takes a while to build boost? Or would that be because i am still on stock downpipes? 80,000 klms MHD Stage 1+ v7.1 RON98 VRSF Street FMIC NKG 95770 (".022) HKS SSQV Injen Intake Stock downpipes Thanks

No codes according to MHD. Hopefully just a leak as turbos only have 80k klms on them. I'll take apart on the weekend and look for leaks.
Does everything else look ok on the log? Cheers

Boost leak or turbos failing?
The noice probably is coming from twisted blade axis. U should detach turbos and check them.

whine usually means boost leak. i would replace the o-ring with the correct size. i would also check your vaccum lines.
The oem vaccum lines get brittle and can crack when your removing the stock charge pipe. i would spend the $20 and replace the main vaccum lines. there a few threads on here on how to test for boost leaks. i would do the cheap and easy stuff first before you start detaching turbos. |
