Driving across the Eastern half of the country
I'm off on a trip to the Carolina coast from Missouri. My first real long distance trip. Left Columbia at 2, got to Beckley WV at about 12. 32 mpg, averaging about 70mph including dinner and gas stops. What a great touring car the 335 is. Ten hours driving felt like nothing. I am thinking that I can make the return trip in one day if I get an early start. This is far and away the best traveling car I have ever driven. Maybe not as cushy as a big Lexus or Benz, but so much more fun to drive. The 335 keeps you engaged rather than numb. Such a blast to tool away from poseurs when you get some open road. Kentucky and West Virginia have some fine driving roads. Let's just say I feel very lucky that my clean (no tickets, no accidents in >30 years) driving record is still intact. Any advice on roads and uhh, obstacles between Beckley WV and Camp Lejeune NC would be most appreciated.

Driving just doesn't seem to be a much fun as it used to be. But the right car can make a big difference. Do I remember you from the AW S4 forum or am I mistaken. If not, how would you compare it to the S4 on the highway. I really like my 335i but do miss the Recaros in the S4.

Yet another good thing for me to look forward to when I get a hold of my 09.
Making the PCD delivery then a drive along the east coast look more and more appealing. |
