I just picked up a set of 397 wheels with tires (Pirelli RFT's) .

These are 225/45 r18 ... I'm aware that I should have 225/40's , but the tires have lots of tread left. I plan to ditch them early since they are the wrong size, and typically I'm not the biggest fan of Pirelli passenger car tires in general. But I'd rather use them them to a reasonable amount of tread depth vs trying to sell them.

I understand they'll throw off my speedo by about 2mph +/- depending on speed. And that at 80mph I'lll be doing about 85mph +/- ... I have done a few searches on this, but no real feedback regarding throwing codes. Just pretty much people stating it could ... not necessarily if it will throw codes.

With all that ... has anyone had issues with their car throwing codes when running a thicker wall than spec'd?

Thanks!

If you are running them on all 4 corners it won't throw a code. Your speedo will probably be accurate with them vs reading 5mph slow like stock. My only concern would be rubbing in the front on full lock.

No codes, that size tire should fit fine (assuming you aren't slammed, etc.).

Cool. I hadn't read of any fitment issues with this OEM tire and wheel combo (from an F30) on an e90

It's a non-sport suspension. I purposely got a non-sport since I knew I would be upping the wheel size and running less rubber later down the road; and didn't want a stiff suspension to begin with.

On the plus side, the 45 will fill up the wheel well a bit more. I'm not planning on lowering anytime in the future.

I'm sure I'll be putting some spacers on the back and front. Maybe 20mm or 15mm rear / 12mm front ... IDK.
