boost issue
I bought a 2007 335i with 100k miles on it a month ago. On the way home my friend was driving it on the freeway and went to down shift and get on it next to my truck, when he down shifted the car fell on its face and went into limp mode. I took it to a buddies house we pulled a code for cat efficiency and a 30fc code. We cleared the codes and replaced the o2 sensors the car has aftermarket downpipes with cats. I never really feel the turbos hit when they spool up the car is all a mild power. A week or so later i was driving on the freeway in 3rd gear changing lanes once i changed lanes i accelerated harder and the car fell on its face i instantly shifted into 4th gear but no codes threw. So i took it back to my buddies house to try and figure out if the turbos were spooling or not. We had it hooked up to the computer checking the map pressure and when he revved it up and let off the boot on the inlet of the charge pipe sucked in. I figured that was my issue with the car falling on its face and throwing the 30fc code. I replaced the charge pipe and installed a BoV the car has not fallen on its face since then or thrown the 30fc code, but i still dont feel the turbos pull the BoV blows off when i shift but i dont really feel any boost. I have not seen a 30FF code at all. I had my buddy stick his hand down and shake the actuator rod to the wastegate and it had alot of play to it. Im trying to figure out what i need to do to fix the issue or diagnose it further. I plan on buying JB4 but i want to figure my turbos out first. With alot of movement on the actuator rod do i assume my wastegate is the problem and rebuild the turbo? Is there another way i can check or test the turbos or boost? Any help is appreciated and thank you in advance.

Study the boost control system. Once you learn how the vacuum source and boost control solenoids operate the wastegates, it's a simple matter using a vacuum gauge to test all the components of the system.

The vacuum lines look fine i have looked at all of them from the canisters down. My oil light came on today so i am burning quite a bit of oil cause it was full when i bought the car.

I downloaded MHD and ordered a cable to connect my phone to my car. There is an option to log data do i need to purchase anything to use that? when i click on it, it says there is no cable connected so i need to wait for my cable to come in. put if i need to purchase something first i will do that now while i wait.

Theres no other way for us to read the data in a meaningful way than that website, so the zip file does nothing for us. |

Log shows you're not making any boost whatsoever, so either both turbos are shot (chances likely being zero) or you have a vacuum or vacuum-related problem. Changing out diverter valves for BOV and having same issue means it's an upstream issue unless the BOV just happens to be nonfunctional. Suggest you ensure all lines are routed correctly, solenoids are functioning and hooked up correctly all the way to the wastegates, and that the wastegates are functioning properly. You're making it harder than it needs to be.

I see absolutely nothing on there that would constitute boost being held back aside from a boost/vacuum leak.
If the car was overly broken it wouldn't be commanding that much boost. |
