Programmable buttons in the center of the dash -- what do you use them for?
I like the idea that we have those 8 numbered programmable iDrive memory buttons in the center of the console, below the climate controls. What functions do you all assign to those buttons?

I've used these for years on my other BMW's, essentially they are shortcuts to the 100s of different functions buried in iDrive.
So instead of having to tap-tap-tap or scroll-scroll-scroll to, say, navigate to work or call home or jump to your favorite radio station, you can assign each button to be a one-touch shortcut to those functions. I have one set to toggle between full screen and split screen, one to bring up my favorite XM radio channels, another to bring me to my iPod, etc. |

Between my 7 and my wife's 5 sedan I have both cars programmed the same. Mostly for radio stations (SiriusXM & AM), seat massage, sport displays, and "home" for the navigation (before gesture control). I use them every time I'm driving.
Plan on programming the X7 the same way. |

Are these buttom customizations universal for all keys/drivers or are they specific to whichever key fob unlocks the car like how seat and steering wheel position settings are stored and recalled automatically?

"Settings are stored for the driver profile currently used." So I think your answer is per-fob. |
