Any chance I can trade in my new F30 for a G20 with no penalty?

I have a 2018 F30 with 9500 miles on it. I'm on a lease for 36 months and I am 9 months into it.

What are the odds I can go to the dealership and trade it in on a G20? While keeping the same payments? I got an email with a $2000 loyalty credit!

My brother in law did this on a Toyota 4 Runner. They traded him in at about a year in and his lease payments were the the same.

Doable?

Or you'll have EXTREMELY HIGH NEGATIVE EQUITY!! That will be rolled into your new payments!!

Especially from an unscrupulous dealer!

I had a similar itch with Infiniti! And made a BAD decision!!

Not worth it. You'll financially be in an unfavorable position for sure, if the deal can even be structured to make this happen.

I guess you could do a buy out the F30 and then trade-in the vehicle to the dealer when leasing the G20. You'll definitely lose some money in the transaction ...Lease payment won't be the same.

Only way out is to pay off the rest of the lease. Wait it out with payments or pay the rest of the payments. Its what I did when I owned a 30 year edition GLI from volkswagen.

Only real option is to do a lease transfer. If you didn’t pay any up front fees or down payments you won’t lose out on too much.

You usually still have to pay a bonus to the new person taking over the lease. And there is generally a lease transfer fee required by BMWFS.

Anything is possible, but there will be a cost associated with it.

True, but it’s better than having all of the negative equity rolled into a new payment.

It would be a different story if he had a car that was in extremely high demand ...maybe it would work.

Otherwise, relax and enjoy the new car, 27 months will fly by fast!
Might qualify for 3-6 month pull ahead!

I agree.

I would prefer to not have the first MY of the G20, but since my F30 is ending, it puts me right on that schedule and I'm basically forced into a MY19 G20 or I have to choose a different BMW model.

OP, perhaps look at your situation as a blessing in that most first MY of a new chassis usually improve 2-3 years into production, which is when the you would be looking to order as your lease ends.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I really enjoy my current car and considered waiting for the G20 but became impatient. Oh well, first world problem LOL. I'll just end up finishing the lease.

Hey I will have my first oil change in a couple weeks so I can at least check them out at the dealership

Try Swapalease. I got out of my lease early a couple of times using it.

If you are using BMWFS call them up and speak to early termination department about Option B early termination. I have done that a few times in the past and works out well.
