Buying a M240i

Hi All,

So the distributor of BMW in Turkey is a really close friend and client of my father. There is now a possibility of acquiring an M240i which is super rare in Turkey due to tax reason. They are giving me a huge discount on the car. But there are several options available in terms of interior and exterior colors. The rest of the equipment package is all the same amongst all the cars and they are very well equipt (bar with my special order 218i). The available combinations are as follows;

Mineral White with Cognac interior
Mineral Grey with Cognac interior
Sapphire Black with Coral interior

Now the ideal combo would be Mineral Grey with Coral but you can't always have what you want This purchase is not justifiable by any means other than the deal on for the B58 engine, my current 218i is at 18000km, it is mine (not a lease), as my friends put it; better than a new one in terms of condition. It is Alpine White on Coral Red (you can see it on my garage).

What do you guys think of the available options? Which one would you get? If anyone has any pictures of their car in the mentioned spec I would love to see some pictures if possible? Since I was fine with Coral Red I think I can handle Cognac in terms of jeans painting etc as I clean my upholstery regularly...

Love to hear your inputs, thank you so much...

My car is Black with Coral, wouldn't have been my first choice, but it was a great deal and I must say it has grown on me. Try going to bmw.com and use the build configurator to see how the colour combs work together.

All 3 color combo’s are great, I really like the Cognac interior but it wan’t available when I bought my car and went with Coral red which I love. Personally I like lighter colors because they don’t show dirt and scratches. My wife has Mineral White and its amazing how it really doesn’t ever look dirty because of the tint in the paint. I almost bought Mineral White with Terra interior M235i and I owned an E46 M3 Black with Coral Red interior which was sharp but a pain to keep clean on the outside.

This was my previous M235i MG over Terra. They did away with Terra in the 2 and changed it to the lighter Cognac but you get the picture (pun intended).

I really liked the combo while I owned it but went with AW over Black for my M240i. I really like the contrast of the black and white. Very aggressive IMO. No matter what color you choose the B58 is going to be a rocket ship compared to your current ride.

SBM over Coral. Easy call if you are already accustomed to a red interior. Head over the the photos section of our forum and you'll find a thread dedicated to each of the available exterior colors. Plenty of user photos to look at.

Yes, the B58 is worth it if you can swing it financially and are going to trade the 218i anyway. Fantastic engine with perfect balance of peak power and power delivery. Makes driving very fun. If you're like me, however, you'll find the limited-slip differential option is almost necessary to get the most out of the car and to keep it in a straight line under full acceleration. It can be scary to drive the car when you hit the gas and the next thing you know, you are aiming into the oncoming lane.

Be sure to share some pics when you bring her home.

Thank you all for your inputs so far, this is why I love this community so much. So far most of the time the poll seems to be head to head but we shall see... I forgot to mention that all of the vehicles are xDrive, in Istanbul, we get to experience all 4 seasons and since the city is so huge it can snow on one side of it while on the other side its all sunshine and nice weather. Do I need xDrive? No, I don't think I do but under these circumstances, I'll take it with the added benefit of 0-100 time (0.1-sec :P ) and for added traction when needed (I was once stuck on ice under a sunny day on a hill downwards with the 218i, luckily it was just below a military barracks so I was rescued by the Turkish Army )

Mine is a 2015 M235 with MG/Terra. Grey brown seats is a great combination. I still love this combo. Looking into the Z4s now... unfortunately the only grey there is "frozen grey" - expensive and a pain from a maintenance perspective. So I believe a RED Z4 is in my future.

So there has been a rapid development and there is a chance that I might be able to get a E30 M3 for the same price. I know it’s way different to compare but guys it’s a E30 M3! What do you have to say about this? Should I get the E30?
