OEM Downpipes for M2C with OPF and without OPF
I just checked www.RealOEM.com and found out that there are two different versions of the OEM downpipes. Part # 18328090333 & 18328090334 for vehicles with OPF and part # 18327848041 & 18327848044 for vehicles without OPF http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=18_1089
I wonder what's the difference between them?

Sensor at OPF Version
hi, the EU cars with OPF have sensors to monitor the back pressure, the software will regulate the temperature at the OPF to regeneration if necessary, burning particles out.
you are able to see the pipes for OPF preassure sensors at the aftermarket downpipes of superspront (EU version) https://www.supersprint.com/ww-de/sp...it-klappe.aspx |

OPF downpipes have a post CAT bleed line built in which is then connected to a pressure sensor mounted nearby.
This measures post CAT / pre OPF pressure which is part of OPF monitoring process. As the OPF becomes clogged with ash over time the engine output has to be reduced until a CEL is generated. Ultimately the OPF has to be replaced, at around £3000,. They are only rated from 60,000 to 100,000 miles. But not much mention of that by BMW! Last edited by doughboy; 04-05-2019 at 05:00 PM.. |
