Aftermarket Oil Coolers

Who has experience with them? With running stage 2 bm3 - is having one installed a good idea? Or is it only for those who track their cars? I've read that sometimes they don't allow the engine oil to reach proper operating temp. thanks!

The most I'd do is switch to an aluminum filter cap, which will shed heat, whereas the stock plastic cap won't.

Interesting thought. Didn't realize there was an actual benefit to an aluminum cap.

Wonder if there would be any noticeable difference on the temp gauge (ie. a mm or teo shift to the left).

My video DIY will be delayed a little bit, but I will get this done. The cooler radiator makes the OEM just look PUNY.. the difference is dramatic! As soon as I can get this job completed, I will get the video posted up.

My diesel takes nearly an hour to warm up when driving

one thing to consider with an oil cooler is that your oil changes will become a lot more difficult if you care to drain the cooler. But in reality it's best to monitor your temps on hard usage and see if you even need one.
