Switching to Benz after 16 years

Greetings and farewell Guys

Owned several BMW's since 2003 and it is high time to move for me to switch to Benz and get the GLC 63s rather that the X4M . i really tried to like it but the New York Auto show sealed it for me . More torque, Forges wheels, Larger sportier looking tires , air suspension , New MBUX and digital cockpit and obviously the sound of that V8 will be unmatched . 10 sec faster around the Ring , air suspension . 2 choices of 21'' forged wheels and it really Looks more sporty .

regards

Huge congrats. Its healthy to occassionally try new brands.

Because I get 20-25% discount with no deposit on bimmers, I am unlikely to buy a Merc in the foreseeable future.

I feel your pain. I too am disappointed in the X3M design and defected to the Alfa camp.

The X3M interior is great but they did miss a large mark in making the exterior more appealing. The front is really the only interesting part in comparison to the M40i.

How was the pricing on the 63s? Did you land in $80k territory?

no order yet i went back and forth and sat in the Current ( Pre Refreshed ) GLC and the X4 several times and i really tried to make sense of it and love the X4 but in my humble opinion BMW is just trying to play catch up at this point and they are late. i agree with Chris Harris when he said their designers of BMW are on Absinthe lately . the X4 and X3M look somehow caricaturesque in some angles and good lord with these 21" thin 265 rear tires . i mean people are upgrading the 265 on the M2's .

plus the time around the ring is 7'58" which is 10 sec slower than an Older Benz , i mean usually you wait for your foe to beat it and they failed . i'm sorry but times and performance is important or else nobody would talk about the Alfa Romeo.

and Talking about Alfa Romeo, BMW is launching the 500 hp S58 and Alfa will be at 600hp in its upcoming GTV engine next year . ( not to mention that the sound of all the BMW as of late suck )

Benz is Letting go the C43 and will have the C53 next year at 417hp to compete with the less powerful M340i ,,, and well where can i Stop !! did you go sit in the M340i it feels cheap as soon as you close the door ( the sound of the door closing is brittle ).

even the flagship M850i left me cold from the inside , nothing eventful no wow factor . frankly i digress and there are too many factors that are ticking me off in BMW's , the latest one is their digital display which is sub par compared to benz and audi and well yet it's not even there in the X4m anyway .

I understand some of your arguments, but I disagree in terms of interior quality. While I was sitting in several Benz models it actually felt cheaper than the lately released BMW models. The Benz interiors tend to look better in pictures than they look and feel in person.

I agree. The interior quality in the X3, X5 and 5-Series are very much class leading. However the F30 was weak in several areas, but the door cards in the C and E aren't amazing. The higher end though, the more expensive Mercs and AMGs do have a higher wow factor. But non-amg Mercedes can be boring to drive.

In 2016 we were intent on buying the GLC but both my girlfriend didn't connect with it and found the driving experience lacking in engagement. We ended up buying an F25 and have been extremely happy with it.

I agree about the F30, I was never a fan of the interior, it actually wasn't much better than the interior of the 1 series in terms of materials. That's why I got the full leather with leather dash and upper doors, which helped a lot and made the interior quite okay.

My parents also have a 2016 F25 and I like it a lot.

After 9 years with Merc all out of Montreal dealers I moved away and back over to BMW. I actually had the deposit down on a new AMG GLC but went back and got a refund. The car itself was underwhelming when I test drove it, I agree with the comment that the pictures look better than the car.

What really sealed it was such poor customer service. I had Mercs in the UK and Germany and the customer experience was a huge part of the value of the car. In Montreal at least, both the dealers I went to seemed to believe it was my privilege to buy from them rather than the other way around.

I have a M40i now and love the car and love the service.

The X3M overall design doesn't look muscular enough for a true M car. Kinda weak imho. It doesn't do anything for me.

I guess I don't understand worrying about its track time, unless you intend to race. Otherwise it's just bragging rights (which may be important to you).

Other real-world comparisons make sense to me. Enjoy the Benz!

I went from an F80 M3 into a C63. The engine noise is definitely unrivaled, but the mercedes infotainment system is just plain awful compared to BMW.

Bmw is definitely more visceral, mercedes more refined. I do prefer BMW seats better, though

The GLC63 is a very very nice car. post some pics!

Is the US going to get the GLC 63 S with the 2020 refresh? Restricting it to just the Coupe has made it a non-starter for my use.

GLC AMG 63S (W4) would be in the mix for me if it was available in the US. More utility than the coupe version with the same monster V8.
