AK90 Key Programmer?

I see lots of sellers on EBay are now replacement keys for BMWs. Several will cut the key, using only photograph of the original key. All are clear the the key will require programming, which, apparently, can be done using an "AK90 Programmer", like this one:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/USA-Ship-V3...kAAOSwVAtcIZF~

I have an E46, whose keys are getting very tired, and an E90, for which we have only a single key. Is is really possible to purchase a couple of inexpensive keys, and use a $30 programmer to make them work on our cars??

Regards,
Ray L.

The AK90 is a good tool for diamond key EWS cars. For the E90 you will need something like the BMW multi tool.
