Bad injectors?

I'm looking at buying an 09 328i. It has trouble starting after it's already ran, but once it sits for a while, it cranks with no issue. When it runs, the oil smells like gas, it misfires and has white exhaust that also smells like fuel. Everything points to bad injectors, but the unknown scares me.

Does this sound like something different to anyone else?

Honestly, steer clear if you haven't bought it yet. Too many unknowns. Any codes?

I haven't bought it yet, just strongly considering it, it looks like it could be a quick flip. I was planning on taking it to oreilly's and having them scan it to see what codes it's throwing.

I would be careful buying a 10yo E90 even if it run smoothly
Joking aside, if you don't know exactly what the problem is I would look elsewhere. I assume you are in USA so I don't know how the market is there but in UK there are hundreds of E90s to choose from.

Sounds like a bit of a shot in the dark. Could be anything from a sensor to a wrecked engine.

It's a gamble but may be worth it if the price is right. My inclination is to weigh up the seller. If he's an old boy who's had it from new and just wants shot of it then proceed with caution. If there's any chance he's someone who is up to getting it fixed himself then he's likely off loading a problem that's more serious than it seems.

It's a lady selling it due to a move in a couple of days, we have many mutual friends that say she's as honest as they come, so I don't believe she's hiding anything from me. She's only asking payoff which is half of what kbb has it priced at, which is why I was so interested. I told her that I'd pass for now, but if she wasn't able to sell it before she moved, I'd buy it cheap so she didn't have to take it with her. We'll see *♂️

That sounds like a good story. I guess the sensible thing is to price it for worst case, which is a new engine and offer that.
